Why were the 12 Apostles of Jesus not included in the video? brbrYou should have mentioned how they were able to understand and speak so many languages when the Holy Spirit was activated on them I believe that was the most effective way because it was instantaneous and required no effort Comment from : @leverage2279 |

These methods work better for languages related to what the learner already knows Vastly different languages tend to have differently structured underlying concepts, giving many or no identifiable equivalent to even a simple sentence from the learner’s language Comment from : @AsusMemopad-us5lk |
Well when it comes to music I firmly believe that other than your native language, those who have a good ear for music, also have a better ability to develop a more native like language In other words, the greater ability you have to sing in tune acapella, the better ability you have to distinguish the sounds of an accent and imitate Comment from : @Daniel-dq3js |

Mate, that's one hell of a video you put together there Excellent work There's only one tiny thing that I found detracted from it: the fact that you referenced Tim Ferris amongst these legitimate powerhouse polyglots 😄 But seriously though, awesome video, very well researched and bursting with interesting and useable information Loved it Comment from : @wolfgangwilk562 |
What if you are terrible at remembering song words… Comment from : @letitiacapra8225 |

I knew this fellow who not only spoke 105 languages but also could understand Hyena and Whale songs It only took him 6 months to learn Beat that one! I'm so sorry about my syntax I only speak 17 languages and I actually learned English yesterday Comment from : @MrPipvampire |
My advise would be to learn first of all one's mother-tongue well and this will be enough to think deeply and reach good levels of intelligence I think that Socrates, Plato and Aristotle only spoke Greek Similarly Thomas Alva Edison with EnglishbrbrBesides, what does it mean, to learn a language? That is too vague and too general To learn a language to do what exactly?brDon't fool yourselves into believing that learning many languages is good per se or an indication of great intelligencebrbrAnother good piece of advice Only learn a foreign language from a culture you admire and you want to learn things from Therefore, investigate the culture first to see what you can get out of this culture and out of this language Comment from : @StuffMadeOnDreams |
It's always so "easy" to learn foreign languages, nevertheless, in practice this easiness disappears The only thing that is easy about it, is talking about how easy it is, but not learning, for sure The conclusion is, it's easy to say but not to do Comment from : @Alphegoron |

The third one just listening Can match for 5 people who are genius but not for most of people i think brbrTuddler just listen and learn in this way because they are empty and learn their mother tongue by this way But when it s not your mother tongue and you are adult it's totally différent Comment from : @soleilislamauthentique |

You omitted Sir Richard Burton (1821-1890), traveller, poet, soldier explorer - who found the source of the Nile, writer, scholar, Sufi and European 'translator' of the Karma Sutra, who spoke 29 languages brApparently, his preferred learning method was to move into a brothel in each country he visited until he felt at ease with the language brHe became one of the great swordsman of his era brBurton lived an extraordinary life Go and find his biography It is absolutely riveting Comment from : @JamesErith |
Most “language learners” quit after a few weeks or months or lose interest because they do it too formally (or bookish, if that makes sense) For example, I speak 7 languages (English, Hindi, Paite - Native, Ukrainian, Spanish, Mandarin and Russian) but I have no formal education in any of them except for EnglishbrI can communicate comfortably in ALL of them, but if I were to take a Book-based or Language Course-based test, I would probably failbrbrIf your goal is to speak casually with foreigners… Just try to avoid learning it too formally Listen Repeat Normalize making mistakes but LEARN from them Muster up the courage to speak to Native speakers any chance you getbrbr(I’m excluding dialects My region has about 15 different dialects similar-ish to my native language But some are so different they could pass as a different language, kinda like Italian/French/Portuguese/Spanish) Comment from : @stevehangzo7159 |

I can speak 10 of our 11 South African languages and I think it's because I am exposed to them daily I am currently self learning Chinese (Mandarin) and it's taking me ages to speak or understand it without deep thinking before speaking 😭 Comment from : @sbozalicious |

Standing ovation for this video 👏 Comment from : @AC-yb9ml |
This is an interesting video I agree that each of these skills would be helpful, however, to each person their own Since no 2 ppl are the same, I'd suggest trying them all to see how they work for you Otherwise, the combo of all might be overwhelming leading to failure as opposed to progress & I agree with Steve, as I attempt to memorize I forget 😆 for me hands on practice is best but that's not always accessible to self-taught language learners Comment from : @ResilientIzShe |
Great video on language learning 🎉 Comment from : @LearnLanguagesDrAlex |

I very much enjoyed watching this video But I can't stop thinking that the brains of polyglots are organized a little bit differently Like we cannot all think like Einsteins, sculp like Michelangelo, or play basketball like Kobe, we cannot all be polyglots Nevertheless, I think there are some great lessons to be learned from those that are Comment from : @anikaparker1077 |
Amazing video thank you! Comment from : @brightgreenleaves |
Rather risky to base your language learning approach on people who are probably in the top percentile when it comes to natural ability We can all learn a language, but it comes much more easily to some than to others Comment from : @tullochgorum6323 |
