I read her book recently (The Underbanking Of America) and it was eye-opening in some regards but I wish she would’ve focused more on the financial illiteracy that’s so prominent in low-income/minority families and neighborhoods Hence, using PDL’s in the first place Spoiler alert! Some of the people in her book were able to pay off their loans but I’m sure it’s a very low percentage of people who actually do Most people go deeper and deeper into debt because of these places But I get it Every book needs a narrativebrbrI’ve personally seen how PDL’s can hurt you financially My mother relied on them in the past, still owes money (thousands) and I wouldn’t be surprised if she uses it in the future I would never recommend it Financial education is the foundation and it’s not stressed enough in a lot of communities
