I remember watching this the first time I didn’t get what she was saying Now I do I would keep attracting people who reject me in the exact same ways I reject myself Because otherwise, like they say, If a person felt neglected, unsupported, or unloved by their parents, they will seek out partners who evoke similar feelings, hoping that this time, the outcome will be different and lead to healing

On one of the hiking trails I frequent, there is this tunnel of pine trees that I always imagined as the perfect aisle to walk down during a wedding ceremony I was in a relationship with an incredibly unhealthy dynamic, and I swore to myself that I’d never get married Eventually, I did leave them, and years later, I am still healing On a cold, spring morning, I walked down the aisle and met every version of myself, past, present, and future, at the end I made commitments to myself and, in essence, married myself in a teary, private ceremony in the middle of the woods This resonates so much Thank you

Sounds like she needed to work on herself instead of seeking partners as therapy This wasn't her fault bc of her upbringing but dating someone bc of how you feel you are like seems narcissistic, and volatile when the emotions change brCommitment and working through things together will be her biggest challenge and I think that'll be a great story to hear

Thank you! You have verbalised some of my own journey After 2 marriages and 2 long-term relationships, I was on my own for 4 years doing my inner work 2 years ago, I realised that I loved and respected others more than myself So I divorced them, and married me, although I never saw it as a marriage but a commitment I'm now living my best life! I take myself on dates; dining, dancing, rave festival, travel, etc, and meet like minded people along the way I still love as I always have but now I have better boundaries I've been in a nearly 2 year long-distance relationship; so yes, slow and steady this time! Maybe my 3rd and forever marriage will work out! 🙏🏾
