My entire life I felt like I was different I felt somewhat ostracized because I didn't 'connect' as well with others, or understand social cues other people followed It wasn't until I started working with people who were diagnosed autistic that they took me under their wing and opened my mind I have tried to get an adult autism diagnosis for years, but the doctors/psychologists I've spoken to don't see any benefit for an adult diagnosis, so it's quite frustrating just to KNOW for certain whether I am autistic or not I've done quite a bit of reading, and I've deduced that I've always been a high functioning autistic person Just for fun I watched this video to see if any of these traits applied to mebrbrEVERY SINGLE ONE DID Especially the Attention to Detail brbrThank you so much for making and sharing this video I've always struggled trying to understand why I was different, and slowly over years I'm beginning to understand that yes I am different, but that's not always such a bad thing Comment from : @Tyrael876 |

Continual improvement, yes Part of my everyday life Comment from : @BellaMia99 |

Agreed with the empathy aspect I cant speak for all, but i feel like i have ALOT of empathy I dont see how a lot of others dont see that we are all humans We are all people and whether others want to think it or not, we all have feelings If you dont have feelings, ur probably not human 😆 For the most part we all put our pants on the same way 🙃 Comment from : @BellaMia99 |
Most the time, people do NOT want me to be honest The reaction is get, is negative even if it doesn't come out as rude or inappropriate Comment from : @BellaMia99 |

Honesty and sense of justice - - - i absolutely cannot let something go if it is wrong towards a person; or if for example a company is lying to the public and their employees or lying to me i dig my heels in until i can actually get them to admit it and change it I like that have that trait ; but i use up alot of my energy on it too so i have to remember to ask myself; stop and breathe; and ask 'how much is this worth' - if this were a job and i wasn't getting paid ; would i stay at work And that's about the only way i can manage it So , that being said, if you need an advocate ; i'm that person (unless i find you to be a liar - ha ha) Comment from : @alysmarcus7747 |

Treating people the same because we’re all human is a strength For decades, I assumed this was a product of my upbringing Now, I wonder if it could be a product of autism Comment from : @stephaniebarrows5428 |
She also helped butcher cows… I can’t stomach animals products because of how much empathy I have for animals Comment from : @Ahimsachan |

#7- sometimes I feel like Spock, choosing not to feel because I can feel too much 😅 Comment from : @LisaClark-cz8qs |

Most of these resonate with me except honesty My ASD might stem from nurture having a toxic mother She taught me how to lie and when to use it for advantage It has taken me a tremendous amount of time and focus to shake that habit And yes, it's a habit and skill that is honed I consider masking a form of lying and one of my greatest skills Lying is obviously a gross human behavior But when you are conditioned to lie for years as a child it's not a switch you can turn off instantly I'm working hard on it I wish I didn't have that in my history And I don't intend to cause anyone shame for masking That is unavoidable until you learn you have ASD and are willing to let go Comment from : @I-sed-no |

I’ve been saying things like ‘this is how they do it on my planet’ jokingly all the time when being called weird or cuckoo for wanting to do things a certain way And have thought in my head so many times while listening to people (this is how they must be doing it on their planet😂) on encountering things unrelatable yet appreciating the beauty in the differences (explains the non judgy bits perhaps) Have had some cray cray creative gifts that I haven’t known what to do with while I found myself baffled at the speed at which I picked up new things Also struggled with some of the simplest Finding an explanation to relate to in my late thirties makes me feel so seen and also proud of the way I preserved my uniqueness Wish the younger me could have seen this video! |
My adoptive mother used to tell me that my parents were Aliens and that she was hoping everyday that they'd come back for mebrShe also said my parents were crackheads living in NYC, and that "I could go back to them" if i wanted Comment from : @Redeemer8916 |
Good in Maths ! Comment from : @messpilo |
9 out of 9 for me, but I don't have any disorder However, I am often frustrated by the behaviour of people with neuro-typical disorder They rarely say what they mean, or do what they say they will, and so on down your list of the traits that NT's lack They are often hostile to anything they see as different to them Comment from : @paulbeever9379 |
I’m not diagnosed as autistic but my research is making me suspect it brDoes learning that you are autistic help you deal with some of your traits that cause you trouble or manifest in negative ways? I’ve always been quite perfectionist and always working hard to achieve a result and having very high standards This has been a struggle especially when things are often out of my control Realizing that this stems from perhaps autism may help me to relax this aspect of myself and have more grace with outcomes Comment from : @natalieglickman1445 |
Hi! You spelled “emphatic” instead of “empathic” So is that one of my autistic traits? I always find errors or mistakes I am trying to resist the urge to point them out all the time because I think this is socially frowned upon Comment from : @natalieglickman1445 |
"Emphatic" vs "empathic" Trait #7 Just using one of my abilities (concerning details) in that misspellings "jump out" at me Well, it made me laugh, so thank you! I guess the "h" preferred to be near the "p" instead of the "t" Maybe it wanted to see what it was like to be in the stressed second syllable instead of the final destressed syllable I'll bet that next time, it'll prefer the destressed position; being near the "p" might be too stressful! Ha ha ha Comment from : @kathyh1720 |
I'm loyal to a fault I had no idea that this fierce loyalty was an autistic trait I was in a dysfunctional relationship for 4 years I should have ended it at least 3 1/2 years sooner (Ouch, it hurts to remember) 😡 Comment from : @andrewjaramillo |
6 Loyalty brI had problems with thatbrI was in chat with ruzzian gamers They were very important to me And than they all supported invasion to my countrybrLater I found another gamers comunity But the head of that chat wanted to blame me for other person's crime (really crime, she was stalkering people) And she did everything purposely She did know that she is the one who leaks information from the chat to that person Comment from : @Anna_M_numbers |
Goodness, you hit 10 nails on the head!!!! So glad I'm an Aspie, wouldn't change it if I could brThank you for your channel, give me a sense of being 'normal' 🙃 Comment from : @lizwillson3349 |

Well, I thought you were talking about me!! Trying to get my neuro-typical partner to watch this video, but no luck! It is what I usually find I have an IQ of 145, love painting pictures - not walls (in case you were wondering!) I write poetry (over 1000) and seven book-sized stories - which nobody has ever read except me I have re-written the Bible because I didn't like what the other one said, Plato's "Republic", for the same reason, and many other things Sorry, I'm going on a bit again, aren't I? I'll go now Thanks for the video, it is good! Comment from : @DianeMurray-s4m |

I’m autistic and I work in surgery My attention to detail has saved patients limbs eyes and lives, also me talking to my surgeons the way that I would talk to the nutrition staff which is what we call the food service workers at the hospital is one of the reasons my surgeons love me so much I remind my surgeons that they are not gods, but they are human Comment from : @creepypastashinigami |

A dicotomy was always how I described myself even before ASD was on my radar But, it's slowly making sense to as to why I am that way Comment from : @MelanieDPerkins |
My relationship with truth often puts me at odds with the friendships of those who do not value the safety in truths that I do Comment from : @psychicpajamas |
Ok everything except one for sure… is this all autism only ? Comment from : @thebrokenheartedwoman |
Great one on one and giving attention to one thing at a time, not great in groups or having to concentrate well on lots of things at once brbrBeing pressured to attend parties or anything is the worst (after you have said no) brbrI should have known something was up when I completely hated networking events and I couldn't wait to leave! It all makes sensebrbrI like being definite about things If only I stuck to what I know is good for me Comment from : @celicasand2465 |
Thank you, great video Comment from : @celestialintentions |
Excellent! I have all of the positive traits mentioned I would like others to see it that way Life would be less challenging But I love our community! brGod bless everyone! Comment from : @bonniequintall9771 |

Guilt creates truthfulness for me , I suffer massively with guilt and find if i lie it will eat me up inside Everyone is thinking it but i say it , i named this" truthful tourettes " lol Comment from : @rustysphotography |
The "better than avarage" effect makes a list like this essentially useless Everyone always thinks they score higher in any positive personality trait So if you think you have a better than avarage attention to detail, are more honest than others, more loyal, ect That's not evidence you're autistic That's evidence you're human Comment from : @myself2noone |
Every single trait in this list will get you in trouble in most workplaces though Comment from : @AlexandreSchwarz |
Lack of "Self-Driven Motivation" and Lack of "Ability to Own Your Negative Feelings" derives from Lack of Owning Your Own Self-Responsibility??? PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHT!!! Comment from : @visualeffect |
Thanks for your video! A suggestion: You might want to fix the headings that say "emphatic" when you are saying '"empathic" Comment from : @arlenehoffman1946 |
Number 10: shorter life expectancy, though the reasons why are not positive 😅 Comment from : @arostheautistic1045 |
Something I find difficult is that people expect to see the same presentation in adults as they do in children Despite the fact that all adults are different than children in nearly every way, ND people of whatever label are 1 expected not to look neurodiverse but also 2 show the same rigidity, emotional dysregulation, and perceived social ineptitude as children Butall children can be stubborn, demanding, and awkward, because they're in development So when it comes to forgetting to respect those status and hierarchy designations, I tend to mirror back what I'm getting from them, too Lack of respect gets lack of respect Mixed signals get mixed signals, condescension and ableism get rudeness right back People tell me I should mask this, but I refuse to Comment from : @weaviejeebies |
Such a good video amid all the fad ego videos by autistic girls Comment from : @fellowcitizen |
I found that I tick all the boxes you list in your video I think this is great for those of us that struggle with being “just a little bit off” On a side note, trait 7 is misspelled It should be empathic not emphatic Although I do fond my self being empathic when I talk about ideas that I am passionate about Comment from : @2574dc |
Omg every single one describes exactly me Comment from : @55bigcheese |
I’m of the mindset live and let live, for sure As long as it doesn’t hurt others and as long as the expectation isn’t that I am to embrace values or lifestyles with which I disagree We all have different values, morals, and religious views So that’s the only one with which I disagree However, I will btreat/b everyone with kindness and respect if they treat me that way Comment from : @prodigalson1870 |
OK wow, that really feels like me! The empathic part in my case seems to be, or at least used to be, that people would just sit there and tell me their woes for no discernible reason My aunt, when I was 18 or so, actually asked me why the heck I kept coming on over when she would end up dumping her issues on me I just shrugged, because I didn't have an answer I think I somehow knew being a sounding post helped people, though I didn't really consciously realize that Comment from : @MySaskatchewanGarden |
