Answer: Not enough to keep up with inflation or housing if living off basebrbrNot enough for technical jobs with civilian equivalents to stay in (I say this as an air traffic controller)brbrNot enough for some to be working 6 days a week 9-12 hour days (my best friend is a maintainer)brbrNot enough to watch the finance guy working 35 hours a week with weekends and holidays to make the same amount as all the 24/7 jobsbr(No hate, just regretting decisions aka salty) brbrBut enough to survive/save a bit on the side when your starting straight out of high school if you can get past all the bullshit Comment from : Phatesdemise |
I live pretty comfortably as an E-6 with 12 years and will pull in $70k as a firefighter 🔥 No debt, no car payments, no medical bills/payments Ok the civilian side can sure make more but if you have a family, how much insurance are you paying a month? And co pays? brbrVery few departments will pay me more and you have to factor in the cost of living I’m in Texas, so I’m fine and living life It’ll pay off eventually And I’ll get 2 retirements, TSP, PLUS disability at 59 years old 🤷♂️ Comment from : PandaBear911 |
The more you get paid, the more inflation takes away from you brbrApplies for all types of jobs brDisgusting Comment from : SPK3167 |
Update: as of October of last year they did away with getting paid once a month! This was a devastating hit to me and I had to go to finance to recalculate my budget This was not optional and was mandatory Comment from : Gabriel Williams |

Junior enlisted just not making enough sorry to say and there no reward for staying in past 4yrs for most of my junior sailors When they see how much civilians get paid to do jobs on base with less stress The military gave everyone a 4 raise fully knowing that officers did not need a raise but the enlisted E1-E5 needed it the most and they dropped the ball again Long working hrs and less pay for my juniors and I'm proud to say they know there worth and leaving before things get worse for them Comment from : LA |
I am joining the USMarines sooner rather than later and I am trying to be…financially strategic about it! Our military NEEDS people and I would proudly serve as a professional warrior in the USMC!!! 🇺🇸 Comment from : Knight-Sgt Reyes |

I've been part of the military Air Force branch for the past 13 years The only reason I joined was for money No other drive than money And still to this day it is the only reason I am in the military is for money The military if donne correctly could set you up to be a millionaire If not in cash it can be through real estate Be smart, invest wisely Comment from : ITgamer |

I wouldn’t recommend running to the G fund unless you’re close to 60 All the numbers you see in your investment accounts are paper losses/gains A recession is a chance to gain cheap shares for when the market corrects Don’t be scared of recessions, embrace the opportunity Comment from : Shango |

$115k bonus for the Navy? I'm going to press 'x' on that one Not on you, on the Navy Comment from : Senor Gato |
It is poor advice to stay out of the C fund Especially as a young person who is nowhere near retirement The stock market is a LONG TERM investment that always outperforms other investments over the long term You can't look at it on a short term basis and try to time the market; that's when you will lose Comment from : Scott Ankers |
I always felt that pay should increase more substantially when you make E5 At that point you have substantially more responsibility and have demonstrated that you are more careers minded about the military Comment from : Scott Ankers |
As an e-4 with 2 years our checks only went up like 100$ it’s not that different Comment from : Lord dripp |

Honestly we make pretty good money I have been in for 5 years and I’m an E6 On the civilian side I would have to make 88,000 a year to make my income I don’t pay for medical insurance except 15$ dollars a month for dental for my wife and they match my TSP up to 5 Depending on the unit but I really only work 5 hours a day unless we’re on TDY or tuning STX lanes I recommend it Going to OCS in march and if I commission my pay goes up 15 grand more right off the bat Comment from : Jeremy Jamieson |
A bit misleading I make over 6 figures as an E8 and only pay taxes on about 2/3rds of my pay Not bad Comment from : Shooter McGavin |
US flag on your chest is backward Comment from : John Smith |
This video doesn't seem to be factoring deductions, I'm an E-4 in the 82nd so I get airborne pay and I have religious exemption so I get BAS (not BAH) I make 2100 a month between my 2 checks before everything maybe on paper its 2700 a month but after deductions it doesn't feel too good and with how much more expensive groceries are becoming and all my bills across the board going up I have enough to live but with how much of my personal money I have to reinvest into uniforms and other military gear its hard to save more than 1-300 a month Hope this was helpful for someone Comment from : Military Mackes |
The DOD has made it so whether I like it or not you get paid twice a month I used to get paid once a month which made managing my income much easier and I am still pissed about them at the pentagon messing with my pay Comment from : Military Mackes |
In the platoon we calculated how much we earn by hour and it is around 5 euros per hour and if I would have a job as a civilian I would earn between 12 and 15 euros per hourbrOur sergeant say that we are really stupid to do all this shit for getting paid kinda bad Comment from : wally13 |
The military is a fun job that pays well There are ZERO soldiers on welfare or food stamps The lowest paid single E-1 private makes $21 per hour 90 Percent of soldiers earn more than their civilian peers Officers are rich NCO are middle class Comment from : John Smith |
That’s not a lot of money my friend room and board shouldn’t even be part of your pay hahaha oil rigs pay minimum wage $38 hour with room and unlimited food and get a games room there even a bar on sight hahaha Comment from : Rhyno White |
Simple Don’t join until they make those in the service have better pay The entry bonuses won’t last long And don’t forget When you go in you’ll be working like a slave Especially in the navy 18 hour days 7 days a week for 6 months no break Ask the Reagan covid crew Comment from : 50cent |
You can't really just go by the pay chart though Those soldiers are also getting BAH FOr example if the soldier is stationed in Seattle they are also getting an extra $2091 a month for living in that area More if they have dependents You can also get other monthly payments for things like being bi-lingual in certain languages, danger pay, etc Comment from : Shadowskill11 |
I am joining to service my country not for the money Comment from : Emmanuel Awosusi |

Love the overall great info given here however I’d recommend chilling out on the investment advice and shitting on government entities that have major affects on the large scale economy As someone who studies economics some of the factually incorrect comments you made discredits the rest of your content Your military content is honestly great, so I’d recommend staying within the topics your actually an expert in (that way you’ll never discredit yourself among the viewers) Other than that great video Comment from : Asher Spain |
Does the US defence force pay for being deployed? In Australia you do even if it’s being deployed to another part of the country (eg bushfire relief) Comment from : ianyapxw |

And if one is as "special" and "covert" of an operative as "BORNE", they get completely SCREWED and left out to hang with TARGET on their head just for exposing the CORRUPTION FROM WITHIN which will not only destroy the nation, but the world They are HOMELESS and treated as if insane Comment from : YHWHsaves DotCom |

Here in Bulgaria, a military acadamy graduate (basically west point) like myself will recieve a base salary of 1100$ as a fresh O1 In a country where the averege salary is 900$, in most regions lower, I find that pretty satisfying Comment from : ChriSbg |
Don't complain! Pam benefits are better than most licensed engineers make Comment from : B Richard |
I usually agree with practically all of the information in your videos, but the blanket statement of stay out of the C fund is definitely not right for everyone Especially since it is a great buying opportunity if you don't need it anytime soon Comment from : Brendan Smith |
I wish they re activated the mavni program Comment from : Saraç İçöz |
