I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding and ego tripping around Cisco exams, because the name is so esteemed I had a colleague who wanted to become a sysadmin so he was planning for the CCNA, but couldn’t do basic tasks like install a printerbrLet me reiterate for all newcomers Sysadmins don’t deal with network infrastructure! Unless you’re in a very small jack of all trades MSP, network gear is usually handled by a different company You need to know some basic networking, but that’s itbrDon’t think that taking ONE subject makes you some kind of IT god who knows everything All CCNA teaches is pure networking That’s it brI’ve seen lot of snobs who don’t know group policy boast about their CCNA Congratulations, you know how rapid spanning tree worksbrYou don’t see orthodontists running their mouth tryin to be kidney specialists, do you?

Just took the ICND2 yesterday and passed I can definitely say focus on WAN, WAN, WAN technologies Also one thing to remember is to look for what DOESN'T work There are a lot of questions that want you to match certain things If you focus on what you know ISN'T correct it leaves you with fewer variables for ones you aren't sure of You can do it, just stay calm and carry on!

As for getting experience if you are in the it field (as he mentioned he is a tech) he already has his foot in the door so in a situation like this I would recommend really getting n the good side of the network dept and see if you can shadow them you can sacrifice a little and either stay late for when they do work after hours see what is really done in the real world this does count as experience on a resume since you can now say you've done this or that from a "real world perspective" - and you never know they might offer you a position if it comes available just my opinion

In my opinion David Bombal is a better lecture than Jeremy His videos are consise and to the point, he explains things greatly and breaks out the modules so that it's understandable He is also very hands on even with the theory Jeremy has too much fat(jokes and stories) in his videos but he's still great David is for the guys who have some networking experience or knowledge and want hit the ground running And he'll open you up to GNS3 as it is the better tool and can be used all the way to the CCIE levelbrThanks for this interview it's helping me in my icnd1 and icnd2 journeybrbrbrCheers
