When you refer to the Mint, you should actually be referring to the Note Printing Australia The Mint manufacture coins and not bank notes

Australian coins are also near-perfect, with only the over-sized 50c piece being annoying in the wallet In fact, the only better coin size series I've ever seen was the old, German Deutschmark coins, whose one flaw was that they didn't have a 20c piece

One thing I really like about US currency all being the same size is that if I need to get a bunch of 20s or 100s, I always get a 1 too, and fold it on the outside and fold it so that it just looks like I have a bunch of small change and it’s not incentive to cause trouble

Australia did not really invent polymer notes, as attempts had been made earlier by several researchers Australia was the first to successfully produce viable notes So it was more the technology they invented rather than the idea itself And each advancement just makes these notes more amazing

This is another video that shows we need a 'Log day' as well as a 'Pi day'! It would make a good Log day video brIt also explains why it's no good using an American purse for British money - now I see the US money would have all fitted in and the British notes stick out unless they are folded up more brGood joke about the £50 note - when I worked on a checkout I had to ask my supervisor if it was genuine as I didn't know what the real ones looked like also had to check some £10 notes which had gone blue because of going through the washing machine in some trousers pockets! One customer tried to use a fiver that had been torn and stuck together with sellotape I think it was still valid!

US dollars might not be colourful or different in length but they are a lot more comfortable to handle than pounds pounds are a disaster, you always lose 5s and 10s in 50s, 50s stick out of wallets unless its a wide one I get the usefulness of changing the colour of banknotes but the size is meh

Also, the Australian Mint has now introduced updated designs making them even harder to counterfeit, but also include bumps on the corners for the visually impaired meaning you can denote what value the note is without needing to see it (5s have 1 bump, 10s have 2 and so on)

As UK bank notes are now made of plastic polymer, while still maintaining the length and width increase, by the Parker standard for bank notes, they are now at least as good (or better than) the Australian notes :)

A bit late to the party, but regrettably you've missed the best currency Costa Rica has perfectly logarithmic notes from 1k to 50k, a much larger range than UK or Australia, they are fairly waterproof, and most importantly, each denomination features a beautiful scene from the rainforest or ocean

It's funny the meme Americans have about Monopoly money because of the various coloured inks other countries use Monopoly money is actually pretty monochromatic, like the US money (I know they also use green in addition to the black ink, but it's not very noticeable) To me, US money has always looked like Monopoly money since it's obvious that monopoly money has a single shade of colour paper per denomination, and a single colour of ink throughout Other currencies have many different colours per bill, and distinctly do not look as much like Monopoly money, which was indeed patterned after US currency
