 Dad said these sold for $10 a piece when they came out because of the loss of JFK He still has some original rolls and I have a few The nice thing about them that even the circulated ones are in great shape became they were quickly hoarded after the change from 90 right after they were minted They are great to stack because they weigh out well

 One reason people grabbed them up at the time was as a souvenir of JFK Spending them was almost thought of a sacrilege to Kennedy's memory I know, you had to be there, but that's how it was brbrBefore '64, half dollars were in general circulation just like quarters, but after '64 people got out of the habit of carrying them and spending them Of course removing all the silver from quarters and dimes in '65 caused the Franklins and Liberty halves to disappear as well

 I don’t have a dozen numismatic grade coins, but I have thousands of 90 dimes-quarters-and halves I prefer Franklin halves because of the certainty of their age, but I sometimes accumulate Kennedy halves because they usually have more meat on the bones
