I couldn’t stop reading the comments and felt like this video so well done and moving was therapeutic I spent my whole life 38 years to be exact as a 911 paramedic, I’ve been retired for years now but if you ask me what the worst thing I ever experienced and I’ve seen a lot but nothing compares to the sound of a mother’s scream at the loss of a child it’s primal and there are no words or actions that can make sense of that moment I have pstd and my most lingering symptom is hypersensitivity to load noises and was never able to put my finger on why until now watching this and reading the comments helped more that I thought possible

Wow , this is so powerful , i can't stop my tears , I shot n killed my brother wheni was only four , i know what it means to carry the burden It absolutely destroyed me The horrific beatings i recieved from my father because of it , it was his fault the accident came about He didn't clear all the weapons brIm fifty now and the pain is all to real and the feelings that accompany them The emotional state im still dealing with is more difficult now im back in recovery brBeing clean n sober having to deal with it all again , will destroy me all over again I just won't be getting loaded this time brNow i have to learn to greave and release that horrors of my life

I saw my first notification as a military brat playing at a friends house off base Even at 9 years old I knew what that meant The next one was a friend’s son and it’s breaks your heart to see the life go out of a Gold Star Mother Finally I answered my door to my notification and you could have knocked me over with a feather and I can’t tell you a word they said passed regrets Seven years ago I was severely wounded and told I should get my affairs in order I tried to die on my way home to the US and my spouse demanded my retirement I’m just an old beat up soldier but my heart goes out to my brothers and sisters who did serve, are serving, and their families When I was stationed in DC I went to Arlington every weekend both to pay respects and to remind myself that decisions have names

My son hasn’t told me much He did tell me he helped load boxes onto a transport plane It took me off guard I wondered why he would mention that It took a long time, but I think I know why he told me by the tone in his voice He never shows much emotion He still doesn’t He will always be a Marine He enlisted in 2002 at 17 He was 16 when he saw the smoke in the distance from the Twin Towers

In this video no family member wants to hear about either a mother father brothers sisters want to hear that someone has been killed in a HOT JONE,as many soldiers were killed in VIETNAM My brother was a MARINE and I recently heard that he just died and my mother just died at 98 of a heart attack and I have to find out where she is buried and I am not sure when I go home My sister knows and my son will fly out where she is buried My mother had a great life

Many don't realized that these Marines that go out and announce the lost of loved ones during a war are working either voluntarily or because they've been selected for a Special Duty These Marines are only assigned to this duty temporarily, (TAD) which may keep them there anywhere from 6-18 months depending on quotas Once a Marine's Temporary Additional Duty has been completed with a Casualty Unit that Marine is then assigned back to his original duty, And if the nation is still at war, and particularly if his original duties are with a combat/ infantry unit then there is a more than likely good chance that Marine will be flying out next into combat I know, because I was in that type of situation during the First Gulf War Killers?? It's not a pleasant or desirable job, but if we dont do it who will Any volunteers? Just imagine having to report the death of loved ones to family member knowing that you too will be leaving soon

I have conducted death notifications as a police officer Since then, I've served as a Healthcare provider in the ICU and ER Too many times in my life I've heard the sound a mother makes upon first realizing she has lost a child No other sound has ever hit me quite like that one does, and there is no easy way to deliver that kind of news I have tremendous respect for the Marines and other military members who do this duty Personally, I think I'd rather serve on a foreign battlefield God bless all who serve and the families that are left with a hole in their hearts in memory of those who've made the ultimate sacrifice

A long time ago during the Gulf War, I was told that if a serviceman is wounded in action, they send one enlisted man to make the notification If he's dead, they send two plus a chaplain I still don't know if that is/was true All I know is that if I had a loved one serving and two senior enlisted in uniform showed up at my door, I'd assume the worst

50 whatever years ago I had one of the most distasteful jobs of being involved with what these men are doing The worst time involved a soldier who went to Vietnam with an entire unit A few weeks after the unit went to the field the the soldier was KIA At that time the procedure was to inform the NOK that the soldier was MIA This gave the Army time to gather information on what happened, confirmed identified, etc It usually took a day or two Prior to being deployed, Some of the unit’s soldier’s wives formed an ad hock family support group OK shortly after finding out the soldier was KIA he was able to call his own wife, and told her of the KIA The word spread quickly among the support group A short time later our personnel arrived and informed the spouse that her spouse was MIA Her response was that he’s not MIA he’s dead Obviously, a painfully awkward situation followed If there are any soldiers reading this, don’t let this happen
