Most of the time when i look up past sales on ebay, I get no results When I get results it's limited, 1 or 2 matches I feel eBay searches do not look back far enough Have no luck with navigating pcgs website either Unless I want to look up up a mint state coin, I get nowhere Found no list for varieties or doubled dies etc Just regular mint state coins Think I'm kidding? Try me I'll give you examples of my coins that don't exist in past sales So I guess I'll never try to sell them Don't feel I should have to pay taxes on a hobby either I'm in it Just for fun, profit would be welcome without government intervention Comment from : Kevin Q |
|
A coin is like any other commodity - it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it When I sell coins on Ebay I always check the sold prices That gives me a good idea of what my coin is worth and how to price it Comment from : Jason Blue |

I really enjoy your info videos, great , for what it is worth ,I been in the numestmatic field and treasure hunting fields for 40 years great job informing new people to our field and updating the older people in the fieldI think people that own large coin collections , it is in their family's best interests to include a mandatory numestmatic class as part of a will or Trust before the beneficiary receives a large valuable coin collection Comment from : TEXAS_GERMANIC |

Great info Excellent common sense advice As an anecdote about some prices on a downward trend: Not long ago I had the unexpected happen and sound a 1939 penny in circulation--it still had a touch of original luster So out of curiosity I looked up it's value in my 1965 Red Book--$135 in UNC cond In my 2012 Red Book it was $200 in MS 60 Just to keep up with inflation it should have appreciated about 7 fold, that is 7 x $135! ($945) Comment from : Ira Nirenberg |

I could give someone four values for a coin, and all of them would be correct First, there is the often-inflated insurance value where the price might be 3x-5x what a person could expect a coin to bring in the market Second, there is the auction value; what can a coin fetch at a competitive auction? The third is the retail value; what would a coin dealer sell this coin for in his shop? And fourth is the wholesale value; what would a dealer pay for your coin in order to sell at his shop for a profit? Comment from : Shawn Davis |
