I have had carbon and aluminum, one of my bikes used paid 80000 and have had no issues it has a Claris Comment from : Christopher Lee |
The Rose bike has not an carbon frame It's made from aluminium Comment from : MützeGlatze |
Giant are nice bikes, but 2000 US or GBP is not the $4000 that they cost in Canada You are getting into some expensive bikes for us Yes we know you can go tens of thousands in any currency, but anything over $3000 is what I call expensive Comment from : P Hoffen |
At this price point I'd rather look at second hand options, you could get something like an older SuperSix Evo for half the price it'll be much lighter than these bloated rip off's! Comment from : Dudley Powell |
The big brands also need to get with the program with respect to crank length and handlebar width Too often the offerings are too big The only way to get 165mm cranks is with a small or extra small frame Sub 400mm handlebars likewise Comment from : Charles Blithfield |
I’d like to see the big brands offer the different classes of frame and groupset but with an a la carte menu of finishing kit and wheels with a new kind of relationship with the vendors/bike shops doing the implementation Some bigger bike vendors seem to be doing something like this already In this case different vendors might offer different options but the buyer is just getting the frame and groupo from the big company brBike shops often or usually do assembly anyway so why not let them in on the action more but bearing some risk also? I don’t think this would work with the customer who just wants a bike for x price that works, but is more for the person who is a little more invested in the product I just see a lot of the mid tier bikes with not very good wheels and finishing and it seems a waste when it’s known from the start that the tires and seat and pedals etc… are just going to be thrown away on day one Comment from : Charles Blithfield |
On gumtree, you can buy a good secondhand carbon bike for £400,better than these rip off prices,10years ago you could buy a 105 spec bike for £600,inflation hasn't gone up that much Comment from : Geoff Walmsley |
I just want rim brakes Comment from : Are We Still Doing Phrasing |
No Ribble ? They look as good or better value than Most on this list Comment from : GavClifton |
alloy is short for aluminum? Comment from : Marc Medina |
Just found a Giant Defy with a paint blemish on the frame in my local bike shop, massive discount, collection next weekend 😊 Comment from : Andy C |
"alluminium or allow for short"? you skipped the whole science class? But at least you give some good recommendations Comment from : Eduardo Schneider |
Alloy is not short for aluminium, they're two separate words Comment from : Bingbong |
to the novice shoppers- forget the components, they can be replaced/upgraded it's the frame that counts Comment from : Laszlo Zoltan |
Nice content! But the Piano(or so) background loop is KILLING me!!! Comment from : denis lan |
I live in Utah and i Got to talk to a specialized engineer I asked him why Carbon bikes are so expensive He said they're most expensive bike with material cost and labor with 35 profit should cost about $5500 Comment from : Young Son |
I think in this Pricerange Cube has good offerings Comment from : Tarek Wöhncke |
Buy these types of bikes in September or October when the shops are selling that year's stock off to make room for the next season's stuff Or go to one of the online dealers like Ribble etc Same prices all years round, but they still have some bargins Failing that, its ebay for a 2nd hand Make sure you go and test it first Comment from : marc carter |
Value bike starts at $5k??? Wtf Comment from : Vaping Fast break |
my budget is 300-400 pounds, maybe a second hand option would be better? Comment from : Josh |
Lol I bought my old road bike from a guy on the local classified ads for $80 It was a piece of junk, and I had to put about $250 into it to get it working and safe, but I've ridden it for hundreds of miles, and it's great $2,000 for the "best value" road bike is just insane Comment from : David Clawson |
for me its all about the quality of the wheels, I bought a set of v fast deep 50mm Chinese wheels 10 years ago and they have not needed as much as a spoke change, get an average bike with fast wheels Comment from : ciaran mcmahon |
Doesn't have to be brand new! There are some great bikes for sale in many markets Comment from : Kiwi Biker |
I think your 2nd hand / used rim brake Cannondale video has summed up the bike industry…and you possibly overpaid for that Just my opinionbrYou added carbon wheels and the rest is historybrYou could do 5 of those videos easily and come out spending $1000 - $2000 and end up with an A grade bike…unless you want disc brakes Comment from : Jim |
Very useful examination Comment from : Gianni Trieste |
2000€, all carbon frame and Ultegra are NOT entry level What is wrong with people claiming such things?! Alloy frame with Sora for 1200€ would already be a ceiling for so called « entry level »! Comment from : Theophile Pelras |
the worst thing about the cycling industry aren't 15k bikes, those are built to win the tour de francethe worst thing is entry level bikes being 3k+ Comment from : Marco Brotto |
Funny hpw you mention the Giant's value as hard to beatbut don't mention the Vitus matching it's specs/groupset for lower price? Comment from : Neil Coles |
No - TCR has a noodly frame Comment from : tmu trmn |
Interesting comments on the gravel Considering one to replace my current Warwickshire lanes are awful these days I’m getting to old for thin rubber 😂 Comment from : soulstyledevon |
£2000 is still £12,000 to me! wtf? anything good for like £500? geeez i didnt think bike shopping be this difficult Comment from : NightOwl Games |
Bought a 2nd hand Scott Addict (2020) for £1200 last year and absolutely love it ! Comment from : Blaze 114 |
1:10 Did he just say "alloy" is short for "aluminium" ?? My hearing must be going, because "alloy" means any mixture of metals Steel and bronze are examples of "alloys"brbrIn the world of bicycles, CrMo frames are made from iron alloys containing carbon, chromium, and molybdenum 6061 is an aluminum alloy containing magnesium, silicon, copper, and chromium They're both alloys Comment from : sbunny8 |
What best gears for road cycling esp for hill climbing but yet gives speed on flat Comment from : Anthony |
I wanted an American (Wooo America!!! We rock!!!! Don't forget we saved you Brits in WW2, the big one) bike but none of the local dealers had my size and price point in stock!!! So I bought a Giant Revolt 2 It's okay, but I haven't broken past 30 miles per hour downhill yet Trying to ride every day or other day!!!! Comment from : S G |

I have a Diverge, very slow on the 32m heavy tyres it comes with Comment from : Jose Galvez |
2:49 I have a Giant Propel 2022 model I know it's not in this price range of road bikes, but I just wanted to say that I love the bike so much! Giant is a great value for money regardless of what price range you're looking at I'd love to save up for a TCR one day, but right now I'm having fun enjoying my Propel ❤ Comment from : James Morris |
Hey man the giant tcr is like 3500 pounds… what am I missing here? Comment from : francisco hurtado |
None of these bikes are really suitable for commuting or touring What steel frame options exist in this price range? Rack and mudguard mounts, lower gearing, 36 spoke wheels with 28/32 section tyres etc etc Comment from : LiberateThePlanet |
Why do all cycling journalists keep referring to ‘price point’ Wtf is a ‘price point’’? What happened to ‘price’? Comment from : Enigma |
My first road bike cost me $150 It was a Geminiani in 1962 You can buy a used top-end steel road bike with Dura Ace for around $1000 That would be a bike that was ridden in the Tour de France 20 years ago To me it's like owning a 1965 Maserati DBS Classic The new carbon bikes are better but not by much If you want contemporary top quality I suggest a Specialized SL-7 with Ultegra Comment from : James Mason |
Sram Apex is lower than Tiagara? Comment from : 大君超话 |
I have a 2023 TCR with the new 105 di2 12 speed and it's a nice frame and groupset but the rest is crap! Great value but by the time you've finished upgrading it it's not! It's a very heavy bike at around 9kg stock! The forks are also too thin and flexy, you can feel it when out of the saddle and when holding the front brake and rocking the bike back and forth boy do they flex a lot! Comment from : Richard Middleton |
The one thing I hate about Giant, is the way they market their bikes in different countries That model TCR is not available in Japan In fact the only models available with the Ultegra are the Di2 The lower end models come with the 105 group sets Comment from : Crazy Cranker |
2000$ affordable? Comment from : Wallace |

David, great vídeo, thank you for the options Giant and Rose are my favorite, for my first road bike Regards from Porto City, Portugal 💪🏼🇵🇹🚲 Comment from : Eduardo Reis |
I wouldn’t dream of spending 12k on a bike A fool and his money are soon parted… why are bikes so expensive these days anyway? Pure profiteering on the part of bike companies I currently ride a used Giant Defy Advanced that I paid £500 for 95 percent of the performance for a tenth of the cost Comment from : Stephen Hall |
Giant stock carbon wheels are junk Comment from : Fritz |
I really want to start biking but as a newcomer should i start with the cheapest offering from the brands or should i just spend like 2k+ on a carbon bike? Comment from : Unshipped Cheese |
Like the video but that background music is terrible to listen to for so long Comment from : Benjamin |
“Down to 105… ”brbrI’m in the wrong neighborhood Comment from : PrivateEyeYiYi |
None of those bikes work for me because they have disc brakes which makes my collection of high end wheels invalid Comment from : Adrian Visentin |
Rose and Canyon bikes are great value……as long as you don’t mind the 6 month to 1 year delivery time No joke Comment from : Tom Edward |
comparable bikes for half that easy You're drinking the cool-aid Comment from : dombaydog |
I hope Rose reconsider For the sake of a form that takes five seconds to prepopulate, they make nice bikes Comment from : Ben |
Good feature - many vlogs give the impression that you need a 4k/ 5k bike to be a cyclist I’ve ridden Cube which are widely available and they are very good value- also Dolan and Ribble probably have offerings at this price point Would like to see a feature on best upgrades for a 2k bike PS All metals used for bikes are alloys - ie a mixture of metals - ie Titanium is an alloy - so aluminium is the accurate description for an aluminium bike Keep up the good work Comment from : John Senior |
was anyone counting how many times he said price point 😂 Comment from : Rico 500 |
whatever Comment from : Hugo Brown |
I can't find a similarly equipped TCR for that price point in the US market - I would buy it if I could find it! Comment from : Drew Laskowski |

If I didn't have a discount on Trek, I would go for a TCR Frame Upgrade to some Bontrager Aeolus, and you could have one heck of a bike Comment from : John Lowkey |

Best value carbon aero wheels to pair with the Giant TCR? Comment from : Don Milliken |
I'll stick to my sub $1k Elves frame Comment from : BioStuff415 |
I have been riding/racing Rose Bikes for far over 10 years, however their bikes are great value, I must add that one should avoid their carbon fibre frames My MTB is now on it's sixth frame in 7 years time, all the frames broke down due to manufacturing issues My racing bike is the same as I'm on my second frame after 8 years but still kinda sad to have to go back to the german shop (live in the Netherlands) to bring the bike away and pick it up a few weeks laterbrOn the ALU bikes I only have positive experiences tho! Comment from : Gijs # |
