Have a question, did buy soundhound 4 days ago when it was $1960, the current price is $13, if I do sell covered calls for example at $21 will I collect the premium, and if price is below $21 on expiration date I keep the premium and the shares? But if the price hits the strike price or beyond I have to sell my shares at $21 even if they are worth $30? I mean I am losing so much money and was looking for a way to collect some $ Comment from : @JadapGaming |

Week 1: Buy 100 shares of Google at $500 You sell $505 weekly calls against your shares Great, if the stock rises and my shares are called away at $505 I make $500 in capital gains If the stock stays below $505 I keep the premium on the sold calls for however much premium I brought in, win win brbrbrWeek 2: Time to repeat this process! Youre holding 100 shares of Google at $500 So now the market craters Google to around $480 You can't sell call premium above $500 because the premium is too low So youre forced to sell at $490 If it stays below $490 at expiry you keep the call premium but if it goes above $490 your shares are now called away at $490 a piece, resulting in a $1K loss on capital since you bought 100 at $500 originallybrbrbrbrThis is a great strategy but it requires a bull market and your sold calls must be above your share price average at all times You have to be willing to hold your shares and not sell calls if the stock goes awry Something to keep in mind! Comment from : @Aaron-bb9rt |
So they pay you the premium just for offering the shares, even if you don't sell?? Comment from : @DaisyPeel |
What if a stock gaps down by 20$ U r in a hole for few monthsyes u can keep selling calls but u should be comfortable keeping the shares for that long Comment from : @vk3041 |
