That's a great tip about bringing the back knee up first Years ago, I was given a small board as a present (obviously not ideal for a beginner) It's going to be so much harder to learn to pop straight up in one quick movement on a board like that Hopefully, I can master getting up on a small board with this technique demonstrated here

Even as a beginner, are there times when you need to be popping up more quickly, this vid seems like it would work with a bigger board, on a perfect beginner wave, what about smaller boards and potentially rougher waves or even slightly bigger waves? Dudeeee I just finished taking my first surfing class, couldn't stand up for the life of me for the 2 hour class I thought it was because I lacked proper upper body muscle I came home, watched this video and this method feels way easier to stand for a beginner Wish I had watched this first I think most classes teach the usual popup methods but your video is a nice simplification for a beginner I feel Thanks!

Thanks man, I’m about to start surfing to have some breaks from study I’ve tried a few different pop up techniques on YouTube (on the floor of my apartment) and this one definitely felt the smoothest I have pretty long legs for my height (which is only 178cm) and found putting my knee instead of foot toward so much smoother when getting up
