My list is by no means exhaustive, they are just the books that I have encountered The hardest part of making a video like this is trying to pronounce all the author's names correctly so my apologies in advance for any that I said wrong :P Also in Australia we tend to say 'maths' instead of 'math' and there is very little consistency in which I choose to use

The best book is the one that a lazy professor copied the midterm from It all looked too familiar I had to tell him he miscopied parts of it

There are three CRC (Chemical Rubber Company) books 1: standard mathematical tables, 2 : handbook of mathematical sciences, and 3: tables of tables for probability and statistics

all of Hatcher s text are in PDF from Cornell University Rudin is extremely rigorous I highly recommended read couple of books on mathematical proofs 😊

Actually, I disagree that most calculus texts are good for learning calculus All of the ones I’ve seen fail to properly use set theoretic notation, function notation, etc, and they all fail to properly deal with domains of functions, as it relates to questions of continuity and discontinuity brbrSpecifically, the multiplicative inversion function for the real number system is defined as having as its domain only the set of nonzero real numbers, so its continuous on its domain, and that means its a continuous function, meaning it has no points of discontinuity Most calculus books incorrectly claim that zero is a point of discontinuity of the multiplicative inversion function brbrThis is incongruous with their definition of what it means for a function to be continuous at a point, because the point in question must be in the domain of the function, OR they claim that a point not in the domain is automatically a point of discontinuity, in which case certain other functions, like the square root function as usually defined only on the set of nonnegative real numbers; texts of this sort do not include -1 in the list of all discontinuities of the square root function brbrThis tendency for such textbooks to be lazy about the definitions and logic misinformed students about the importance of self-consistency in mathematics

I'd like a book to tell me how maths poached words like "product" And who first did the poaching and why they used that particular word A product is something produced Why was it chosen specifically for what is produced only by multiplication? And say "series" Who first coined that term for the sum of terms of a sequence and why?

Enjoyed this video, narrated with radiance and enthusiasm I thought I might try to set up a Maths or Engineering theory based project , though I cannot find any interest from others Graphically Programmed the Rubic Cube solver a number of years ago which was a personal ambition I understand there are lots of books on the Rubic Cube This challenge though uses none and does not require a 'Rubic Cube' Considerable computer software is required and I understand Contests using 'Motorized Cubes' are popular in California

One I have read and recommend is 'Relativity' by Albert Einstein and translated by Robert Lawson of Sheffield University The book has two main parts the general theory and the special theory and is written for undergraduates and graduates who are interested

More for Physics understanding I refer to the Red Book Series by Richard Feynman I picked up a paperback copy for $2 at a library sale I am saving it for my grandson who has expressed interest in engineering Feynman Lectures on Physics - Vol I, II & III Bundle by Richard P Feynman is about $50 I poured through volume 1 working through all his examples This was after I had a career in engineering and had retired I also read all his humorous books of which there are several His daughter also wrote an enlightening book about her dad Exceptional all brHe goes into the derivation of logarithms in Vol 1 If he couldn't derive something he didn't know it There is a lot of mathematics in his booksbrFor those who don't know the name Feynman, he was the youngest physicist on the Manhattan projectbrbrI am 78 and a fan of Ms Tibees
