I was a truck mechanic in the usmc I had 2 similar jobs when i got out Never had a problem Id operate heavy equipment and do mechanic work at both jobs You didn't have to know everything If you wanted to excel You were given the opertunity 20 years later It seems you get harassed for everything If you want to excel You get kicked even harder It takes a long time to master a trade And you get beat on While you are making the journey

I’ve been wanting to be an electrician, but I wasn’t born running romex and wiring receptacles so no one wants to hire me I even have a little bit of experience but it’s not 3-5 years of experience so I’m worthless apparently But everyone is complaining about how no one wants to join the trades, I know of several people that do but no one in the universe wants to train anyone

I just retired I worked 35 years in a trade Guess what? No one "taught" me either or paid well in the beginning I started out cleaning toilets, making coffee runs, and sweeping floors I paid attention, was respectful, and worked hard That is why I moved up the ladder and later had a great, challenging, and satisfying career and specialized in CNC programming building complex exhibits Now I have a good pension brI tried training a few new guys over the years but they simply don't have the drive or motivation Every one of them let me down They think they're going to be paid well when they're not worth much at all Most of the time all they do is screw up and you spend more time fixing their mistakes than if you did it yourself I can overlook that, but the worst part is they are typically disrespectful and mouthy know-it-alls The exception in my experience are immigrants The have a good work ethic and know their place brSo like it or not, to all these whiners all I can say is make yourself worth something because no one owes you anything or is going to hand you a silver spoon If that means making sacrifices that's what you do

I’m 28 I’m currently a maintenance tech of 3 years and I was lucky to have a group of people willing to train me I started off as an apprentice while going to school for my mechatronics degree brbrWith that being said, I still struggle to find a new job I want to pursue more electrical troubleshooting or programming, but no one is willing to hire and train I applied to a Walmart maintenance position, and was denied because I was “inexperienced”??? The issue is this, Most Large Companies/corporations and Small local trade businesses are not willing to not cut corners and train the next generation to plan and prepare in their respective trade From there point of view it comes off as having to give in double the Money, Energy and Time consumption to train/educate Young Men/Women to Learn and understand what they need to know in the long run However, this is only the tip of the iceberg issue The root cause is that our education system as in grade level school funded and controlled by our government has failed us time and time again and its only have gotten worse More people are now walking out of high school not wanting to pursue a higher education, Trade/skill or even learning anything with vaule in general

I am 24 and have 8 years experience in the trades They have taken care of me since I was 16, there are people but you gotta be willing to be patient and take some time showing them the ins and outs Within a year you should have someone who has enough experience to go out on their own for ya Especially if you take care of them pay wise If they don’t have to worry about money, they won’t leave you for someone paying $1 or more an hour

I went to take a test for a pipe fitter apprenticeship and the test ask questions about metals and how you would weld this and some were math related but isn’t the point to learn besides the math all the welding and metals in the apprenticeship
