Truth? I notice a great deal of disagreement within the Christian community as to doctrine and I often find myth and legend passed off as history It appears the bible is a source of great confusion and conflict Perhaps the utility of religion is not so difficult to grasp Cosmologists tell us we live in a cosmic shooting gallery and the Earth has undergone several virtual extinction-level events When the next big one (asteroid) hits and humanity disappears I think we will take our GODs along with us I will be delighted to have any of this wrong Cheers

Mark 24:20 sums it up for me Nothing happened as simply as they expected In the same way, we use Systematic Theology to oversimplify the biblical texts The very beginning made a statement that caught my attention too Systematic Theology doesn't start from zero but builds on tradition, which is why every Systematic Theology I've seen is full of huge gaping errors Starting from zero is EXACTLY what we should be doing, each and every generation should assume that everyone before them got it wrong and question every assumption no matter how long or deeply held So far, as 24:20, I'm convinced Systematic Theology needs to become a ghost of our past But I'll keep listening

Wow I learnt so many things out of this video One take away was that theology was adapting its strategies to better expose the gospel to evolving culture I found more comfortable reading early fathers works but found difficulties in Aquinas's That was because I had tendency for mysticism and knowledge from above - I had previous tendency of neo-platonistic thinking This way of organizing different theology styles prepares me starting to think how I could better develop my theological expositions to my contemporaries
