This has basically been my experience lol, the first time I had to learn Maya and still every time I have to use it, I reconsider my career choice From my experience, Blender and Houdini has been the best combo I've been able to make so far, and can do basically anything I've wanted

I'm actually working on a 3D Short Film at University and they've basically asked us to use Blender for our Animations, but they also gave us the option of Unreal Engine, Maya or Houdini (If we're doing VFX) and I plan to show test Animations and the full short film onto my Channel

I'd be curious on the Maya rigging process I learned 3ds Max first, used Blender at home, and now use all 3 at work My background is in more real time work though brbrAlso, once you learn one 3d program, the others become easier The only real difference you'll see is when you get to parametric modeling like in Houdini and using Blender's geometry nodes brbrAlso, see if your school has access to Mari I know that tends to get used in animation production environments
