I can see this working until you are making a lot of money and you tell yourself that you really should be saving more money Do you have any immediate ideas as to how you might change your system?
Comment from : @CasandraTompkins

@Marianarli
Pay your self first Yourself first YOURSELF FIRST I can not stress this enough No matter the amount you want to save You will only get to your goal if you PAY YOURSELF FIRST (And don't move the money out of the savings account , goes without saying )
Comment from : @Marianarli

Comment from : @Shejejjenwn_02

Comment from : @vyvidcolourpencil

@nancyholmquist2573
The 3 "S" Save a little, share a little and spend a little
Comment from : @nancyholmquist2573

@awkwardotter13
I do 50/30/20 rule 50 goes to bills, 30 goes to savings , 20 for fun spending every paycheckbr You can change the percentage to best fit your needs, like when living expenses went up for me I did 60 for bills, 20 savings, 10 fun spending brbrYou can also prioritize things differently, like if you live with parents and don't have to pay rent, you can put more into savings and make that your 50
Comment from : @awkwardotter13

@evergreen1326
This works when you have a certain amount of money
Comment from : @evergreen1326

@chubbydinosaur9148
20 seems hardcore, but I'll give it a go since you're the second person who brought this up
Comment from : @chubbydinosaur9148

@andynonymous6769
Guys we get it you don't have enough money to do this tip Thanks for leaving the 500th I'm too poor to do this trick commentbrbrIt's mind of a helpful tip for some people, not for others I think she understands that not everyone on the planet is rich
Comment from : @andynonymous6769

@FandomRoyalty
As a young person I am very grateful to my parents to teaching me a similar way of budgeting from when i was younger I would get $10 when i was younger for doing my chores and i would have to split that between three options: long term savings (big future things like a car or an apartment for when im older), short term savings (larger things i need to save up for but more in the near future like a xbox or a pc) and my splurge money (money for me to go out with friends or just get something that i want to like dinner or a stuffed animal) The only rule was that i had to put something in each of those options each week
Comment from : @FandomRoyalty

@eggsberts
to take it a step further you can do 50/30/20 :) meaning 50 for needs, 30 for wants and 20 savings, personally i like to split the 20 into 10 for tfsa and 10 for personal savings :D hope this helps someone!! <3
Comment from : @eggsberts

@bueno07
I don't do the 80/20 I do the 90/10 I put 10 of my paycheck away It's not much but it's nice to know I have a little bit of "just in case money" put away and I've been putting away money for a few years now Living super cheap and not having kids has helped a lot also
Comment from : @bueno07

@ThereAlright
That rule is different for everyone as it depends on salary Some people can afford 20/80 some 80/20 and others 100/0 It's not so black and white
Comment from : @ThereAlright

@justinmellem8964
That works until you spend 60 of your income on rent
Comment from : @justinmellem8964

@gulshankaur1693
Idk why but while im still in high-school, I work as a part time artist and somehow I'm actually not someone easily tempted by trendy things people use their money on I'm someone who actually ends up saving about 10k at the end of 2 months and i guess im proud of it No one asked but yeah
Comment from : @gulshankaur1693

@Sang18369
When I took financ lessons in 5th grade I was told to save 60 and use 40
Comment from : @Sang18369

@fvm1687
I just pay my bills and save the rest fam Lol
Comment from : @fvm1687

@joudyyasser8627
They taught us that rule in middle school
Comment from : @joudyyasser8627

@yourmom2189
I can’t do that Literally 100 of my income goes to bills and rent
Comment from : @yourmom2189

@aleyahmalone5012
I like how you used a cake to describe the 80/20 rule
Comment from : @aleyahmalone5012

@alksi1
Food, car and rent is already like 95 for me
Comment from : @alksi1

@kenangamble9221
idk i started a retirement savings when i was 15 cause my dad told me to and ever since i've been putting 10 of my paycheque in it 😮‍💨 it's supposed to be 8 but 10 is easier to calculate and i'm lazy by nature
Comment from : @kenangamble9221

@TheAccursedShare
Isn't that what everybody does like me personally I follow shaq and use his money saving rule but that's just me though
Comment from : @TheAccursedShare

@todorpopov8613
A one up is to invest the money instead of just letting it sit in a savings account
Comment from : @todorpopov8613

@cjfelldownagain
I hope 1 day I can be out of touch enough to think the average person buys Starbucks daily
Comment from : @cjfelldownagain

@chipmo
Imagine having money
Comment from : @chipmo

@catcherreeves5560
If you are still in highschool or living at home, do 80/20, but save 80 That money will really help you out more than UberEATS or weed will
Comment from : @catcherreeves5560

@stillchill207
Wait so not everyone did this? I have been doing this since I was working at 14, I would always split it 80 20, just because I love having a little bit of money on the side
Comment from : @stillchill207

@DerNesor
Instructions unclear, after saving 20 I have no money left
Comment from : @DerNesor

@nastianes1069
funny of u to assume i have money to pay for my basic expenses, not talking about leisure even😩
Comment from : @nastianes1069

@kurokagator4567
Lmao I do some form of that as well As soon as I get my paycheck, 200 bucks off to my savings, 360 towards my rent and another 80 towards my utilities Rest is pure fun/food money
Comment from : @kurokagator4567

@RahulGupta-kp2jh
It's not the 80/20 rule it's called the pareto principle
Comment from : @RahulGupta-kp2jh

@nibbonbon
My method is well in videogames with an economic system "Will I be able to get the amount I spent back in 2-3 days?" If not, I won't spend any of the money I should start doing this in real life, too, lol
Comment from : @nibbonbon

@elia4530
It’s also important to recognize that being able to do that is a huge privilege lol
Comment from : @elia4530

@Arcticroberto9376
That's not the 80/20 rule, but I'm glad it works for you
Comment from : @Arcticroberto9376

Comment from : @m4nny821

@KayoLao
Wanna know what my highschool job savings went to? Being able to eat that day Golly today I can actually afford a plastic fork for my top ramen I warm up at the gas station down the road
Comment from : @KayoLao

@GodLikeCynaddol
90 of people can't do this cause they're living paycheck to paycheck and with our slave masters I meant employers paying us almost nothing if we followed this we would have to be using 20 of our paycheck on credit card money and that just puts us in debt
Comment from : @GodLikeCynaddol

@kookie_krissy6728
Whose TikTok account is this? Please credit
Comment from : @kookie_krissy6728

@kookie_krissy6728
I need that recipe right now! It’s looks so fing good😭
Comment from : @kookie_krissy6728

@neemaborji9993
When people say pay yourself first, they usually mean invest that money No et in a savings account actually loses value due to inflation
Comment from : @neemaborji9993

@xo_kingkobra
i don't think there's a set number calling it 80/20 including the bare minimums just limits it to that have the ability to live comfortably
Comment from : @xo_kingkobra

@alextonev3017
So you have above 20 disposable incomebrbrbrbryou do know only a very small of people get this privilage, right?
Comment from : @alextonev3017

@kingkeem5001
Nice tip but check your privilege 🙃
Comment from : @kingkeem5001

@aquatheboi
You look like frye
Comment from : @aquatheboi

@keiton9512
This only works for people who live in non-expensive areas, have multiple incomes in their household, or are paid well
Comment from : @keiton9512

@bidgey
Here's a good one 50/30/20 ethord 50 essentials (Bill's clothes food etc), 30 saving for un expected expensiese e g Car breaks down, medical bill, flooded house etc, 20 whatever you want as a luxury
Comment from : @bidgey

@sturgeobm949
Great! I implemented this rule and it looks like after the 80 to rent, trash, electric, water, groceries, car payment, car insurance, mandatory health insurance, and the 20 to my savings, I get to take that 20 out of my savings! And use it on my bills too! Aaand I'll just skimp on whatever bill I can Like groceries! I could live for the next year off of instant ramen and tap water!!! THANKS FOR THE TIP!
Comment from : @sturgeobm949

@englishcrumpit4878
The 80 20 rule is when your 20 date an 80 year old
Comment from : @englishcrumpit4878

@Maonaami
To do that you need to have enough in the first place
Comment from : @Maonaami

@ClipsWithLuke
I do the 50/50 It works absolutely amazing cuz i dont have to pay rent or tax 😄
Comment from : @ClipsWithLuke

@kaczmiHTC
It's called '''Pareto rule''
Comment from : @kaczmiHTC

@monty5014
This advice is useless for a majority of Americans since 60 live paycheck to paycheck
Comment from : @monty5014

@terroristasdelamore9008
She sounds similar to Natalie from Sideserf cakes????
Comment from : @terroristasdelamore9008

@kirillberezin8859
It has to be a 30/70 rule if you want to retire before the elder age Duh
Comment from : @kirillberezin8859

@galactorsus_inc
The 80/20 rule is used in giant corporations to save money so it's actually a good way to organize not only cash but resources
Comment from : @galactorsus_inc

@akwinas_a_o
Change that 20 to an index fund that tracks the S/P and I’m there
Comment from : @akwinas_a_o

@thorstmixx
Is it sad that people need a rule to know that if they want to save money, they have to pay their basic living expenses before the rest?
Comment from : @thorstmixx

@thezetacore4445
Great video Very creative use of the cake I have not read through many comments but wonder how many people your age will say but that’s notbrPossible
Comment from : @thezetacore4445

@tiagocoelho4622
"if you can't save up money just save up money duh", yeah like everyone has that option to put aside any let alone 20
Comment from : @tiagocoelho4622

@rivkathegreat
The 80/20 rule is in the order of 80/20 So don't give yourself 20 and scramble up the 80 Put down 80, some for rent, some for savings and take that 20 or 15 or 10 that you have left and put it towards something fun
Comment from : @rivkathegreat

@PurpleVita
In my country there's a simular rule, but 50/50
Comment from : @PurpleVita

@FightingForceSoulless
If you have enough for Starbucks lattés, great! But when you earn 520 € a month like I do, and internet costs 15, milk costs almost 1 € and gas is 1,80/liter (8,xx € per gallon), I want to see you save 20 of your pay
Comment from : @FightingForceSoulless

@dee_dee_place
I saved 25 of my salary in a 403B & at 56 yrs old, I retired It really works My rent is 73 of my retirement income
Comment from : @dee_dee_place

@wafiywahidi3317
well my rule is a bit different if i have any spare changes and a 1$, i would put it in my savings, work every time
Comment from : @wafiywahidi3317

@chesusjrist9733
My 80/20 rule is 80 of my money is spent on bills and 20 of my money is spent on food I also like to spend 80 of my weekends doing chores I can't ignore and 20 of my weekend crying because I can't afford to take time off work
Comment from : @chesusjrist9733

@pinkpugginz
Imagine having savings
Comment from : @pinkpugginz

@momomimi8957
This 20 saving plus the famous 30 rent rule and an estimated 15 for bills and another 30 for essential food, it means you're left with 5 to spend on yourself I'd skip the coffee too
Comment from : @momomimi8957
