I have lost hope in the dental industry, I have tried everything get dental insurance! I am not healthy, and on disability you really dont have much to survive on After paying rent and other bills including, groceries, and other essentials You have nothing for savings if am emergency comes up Dental, vision, and hearing should all be included! They crazy thing about assessing cost between dentist is that each one will want to do their own evaluation, which makes sense But by the time you’ve gone to 3 dentist to compare prices, you’ve spent a good portion of your insurance before whatever procedure is needed

This is bs I had Delta Dental and they would take forever to approve and or they would not approve The dentist would tell me yes we accept DD but you are not going to accept their recommended product So, they show me which one they are going to except and it is more than 10x! I don't know anyone with insurance who gets 2 cleanings per year It's too expensive, even if you have insurance Many insurance companies only cover one cleaning per year The calculation presented here assumes that those who don't have dental insurance pay for 2 cleanings per year and that those who are insured get 1-2 You're basically comparing apples to oranges If you assume that those who are uninsured also get 1-2 cleanings per year, not getting dental insurance is cheaper, but only if you don't have cavities The benefit of having dental insurance is that it makes fillings and root canals more affordable and that paying for those things out of pocket is too expensive for most (the thing is that you don't know if you have cavities before you get insurance and if you do, they won't cover it, which is why it's better to get insurance even when your teeth are healthy, if you can afford it)

Dental Insurance doesn't accumulate the value of all that money you pool in, look into combining a Discount Dental Plan and Heath Savings Account - you keep more of your money over the years to cover the real emergencies HSAs have greater tax breaks than Dental Insurance expenses as well ALL insurance plans limit coverage based on specific caps, qualified procedures, and limits of procedures - you're paying them over all these years and that value is not accumulated and carried to each year either it's a joke The worst part is how these insurance plans raise their premiums but not the equivalent of coverage to align with inflation

I just got my first bill of many to come It is over 5 grand for the first bill and that is my cost not including what the insurance already paid I will pay over 17 thousand dollars out of pocket and the insurance doesn't pay much I max out each year with the first visit Having all my teeth removed would have been cheaper

As a recent retiree I was quoted dental insurance with $1000, $1500, and $3000 maximum pay outs per year Each plan would also not pay any major services the first year, 60 of basic services and 60 for x-rays or cleanings $1000 at the dentist, after first paying your portion won't pay for much other than cleanings or x-rays Dentists know how meager the so called insurance offerings are so are quick to push their "affordable" payment plans or Care Credit It's no wonder that there are more wonderful looking new dentist offices in our area than doctors What a scam
