Most of the information in this video seems to be fairly good information, and points to a FUTURE where EVs would be better than ICE-Vs What is wrong? 1 Time frame: California and those States following their lead are attempting to changeover for sales prior to 2030 Most of the "good reasons" are for future expectations 2 The "bad" batteries will have to be replaced in less than 10 years, adding to the environmental impact, since those batteries are NOT recyclable at present 3 The electrical grid? The reason why that has been a problem, as shown in California, is that the LOCAL distribution grids are where the problems occur, not the distribution and generation infrastructure In the future, the generation may be a problem as only 20 of electricity is generated by "green" sources, said sources are not growing fast enough to replace fossil fuel fired electrical generation and those same environmentalists block any fission nuclear electrical generation Remember also that solar/wind sourced generation is intermittent, usually not available when EVs need to recharge

@DonutbrbrCould there be a problem with these numbers however, where because the production of one EV is 17 metric tons of c02, which multiplied by the amount of EV's on the road (from a quick Google is around 26 million) is 442 million metric tons of c02? (26 x 17) - and we can compare that to the 280 billion tons of c02 from an Oil refinery - seems that the Oil Refineries are burning for more than just cars (eg plastic and other pollutants) - so it seems the answer would be for everyone to switch to electric and stop production of plastic altogether

FYI - cobalt is used in refining oil to remove sulfur compounds in order to make burning gasoline less harmful to the enviornment, so you're offsetting environmental benefits with child labour in both casessad we use so much child labour period, but hey, in the 1800 mines had lots of children working them in the western world too

A major con that is not explained is how batteries system aren't easily replaceable, at least for now, so a minor accident could mean the whole car goes to the scrap if the system is damaged which is a disaster for the environment (and will cost a premium to assure) brbrAlso the lack of lithium and other components means that unless the companies find a way to make this more efficient, EV will stay inaccessible for most people It is still in its infancy though, so it might change who knows?

I agree with 75 of the things said in this video One I don't agree with, and this is why you aren't giving a source for this specific claim, the grid isn't ready for a full scale EV transition In Canada for example, The Canadian Climate Institute published a study that their grid will need a massive improvement with big investement and quite some time to make it ready for the demand Another example, in California, in peak high outside temperature, people can't charge between 4h00 pm to 8h00pm, it has happen before and they said it will happen in the future, and the portion of EV isn't at their full scale yet! There are dozens of similar example like that Another thing, long range EVs, or Trucks EVs and high performance EV because of their high initial environment footprint will be match by an ice vehicule when the car has 40 000miles It will be more than that if the EV is charged by a dirty power source and if the battery is damaged and/or remplaced because of dangerous road debris crashing under the car or battery end of life and/or misused
