You can't really compare 1080p to 4K of course 4K is going to look better You should be comparing 1080p to 1080p so its apples to apples not apples to oranges Comment from : @jamesrich8463 |
So much better on blu ray 3D, sorrybrbrAnd this "remaster" doesn't have extended edition and all special features Comment from : @SonsOfLibertyV |
Great vid 💞💞 Comment from : @eddywells5689 |
I’ll keep the 3D, but I’ll buy the 4k in July, too Weird that they’re releasing the OG weeks after the sequel in 4k Comment from : @colinbooth531 |
Color grading will not save the dated lighting from the original, a lot has changed since 2009 Comment from : @saricubra2867 |
Always loved Avatar It’s a masterpiece in my eyes Comment from : @ThePalmerEldritch |
when is it coming out on demand? Comment from : @sonny8686 |
I'm watching with an HDR display in my opinion the original looks way better maybe not as crisp or as clean but it looks better it looks more grounded in the world around it not everything is going to be pin sharp and shouldn't be Comment from : @smartduck904 |
Original looks better more Moody fits the world better Comment from : @smartduck904 |
Used to look more realistic - the remastered version looks more like a pixar animated movie Not an improvement in my opinion Comment from : @nosachamos |
looks worse colors are more natural in the original the 4k and hdr is a nice touch, but increasing the contrast and saturation just looks bad imo Comment from : @jackwinterson9801 |
It’s just like the Uncharted remasters Even with side by side comparison, you can barely see a difference lol Comment from : @benkennedy4177 |
the frame rate was the only thing seriously impacting the remake it really muddied up the visuals Comment from : @shogenx |
tbh it looks the same, only with colour filter Comment from : @GK-iw3hi |
its hard to believe that the original its from 2009 Comment from : @SeaNBlack |
Prefer the original grade anyday Comment from : @Dipsxi |
It’s honestly a breath of fresh air to see someone in Hollywood putting so much effort into their projects again, just adding back into the original material to make it even better than the first time, always one of my favorite movies growing up and I’m so happy people are recognizing it now that the sequel is coming out Comment from : @musketsrule5541 |
one cant compare 1080 and 4k, at least not fairly Comment from : @RichyFourVideos |
I can imagine these new shots on TV screens at stores that are advertising the quality of the tv Comment from : @JumpscareRodent |
good video, but cinemas are not HDR unless you specifically go to a Dolby theater Comment from : @drtaru |
Why do I want to go and pay to see a 12yo movie? Comment from : @Narblo |
So how did they remaster the resolution of the original movie Did the just increase the resolution to 4K with the best modern upscaling methods from 2K?brOR did they rerender the original 3D-models and scenes with newer hardware (graphics cards, ) and newer render engines (ray tracing, )? Comment from : @photelegy |
They managed to edit all that, but still left the Jurassic Park sounds on it It kinda ruins the movie, knowing how iconic those Roars are Comment from : @SoothinglyUnbenounced |
More natural? He's turned up the brightness and added a green filter The film is still shit Comment from : @TroyUlysses |
2 kay and 4 kay Comment from : @Caine132 |
Best 3d experience i've ever had Comment from : @Simon-kc4ml |
The na'vi still don't look real to me They are too smooth and perfect Humans faces are full of imperfections Why all the na'vi should look like they still have baby skin? I'm not saying it's not possible, but one big rule of visual effects is to add imperfections to make whatever look real Comment from : @vistaero |
I've read the live action shots were recorded in 1080p and the CGI was likely rendered at 2K so this must be an upscale Comment from : @davezorc |
2k is not same as 1080p Its 1440p Comment from : @royz_1 |
People actually paid money to go watch the same movie again? I guess people rebuy video games all the time just because they rerelease on the "next gen' console at that time But its got extra pixels!! Comment from : @udalix |
Changing colorgrading pisses me offbrIt is an artistic change, not a technical change Comment from : @Phelaidar |
So essentially they've added a filter? Comment from : @cole6383 |
Put a copy for 1 dollar into bluray go to tv settings color plus 15 prcent and voila For wind sound go and open all doors and windows Comment from : @vesolcable |
I like the brighter colors in the remaster They did look saturated at first glance, so I went outside and held my phone up against our neighbor's garden Now, I live in a tropical country, and depending on the weather, plant colors here can get pretty "intense" (I'm not sure how to word it exactly, but I hope it makes sense 😅) Today was a pretty sunny day, and the colors I saw in the trailer more or less matched up with the colors I saw surrounding me Comment from : @anonview |
I don't think it looks more natural In real-life, not everything is bright and shiny all the time Especially the First scene you showed Comment from : @teage12 |
“Watch in 4k if you can”brbrme - Turns on 1080p Comment from : @TheOneSandwich |
one thing I notice is while yes, the video is clearer, the faces look smoother, I hope the texture resolution doesn't show it's age, like watching toy story 2 as a kid vs now Comment from : @benputhoff9898 |
Because of your little joke about the font I'm on a SNL sketch binge again 😅 Comment from : @Sluft |
So what is the difference between the version that was running on the network until now in 4K quality, and the one that is now? Comment from : @music_master12 |
You want a remaster? increase saturation on your TV by 5 thank me later Comment from : @TheLordstrider |
i think the best way to get a better visual increase is to re render the sequences in 4k and to re scan the film cells for the IRL scenes (a majority of the film is entirely animated) Comment from : @Ponlets |
In the side by side it looks like a green filter on the new one Comment from : @user-ht5ce2it3z |
Previous is better Comment from : @civillearnertamil4597 |
Honestly, the color grading looks like they just had a teenager crank up the saturation to the max, because that makes any boring landscape shot look more exciting and vibrantbrAnd the Na’Vi look kind of cartoonish nowbrTotally unnecessary, since they already nailed the realism part the last film around…brDon’t think I’m shelling out another 10-15 bucks for this… even though my old version is annoyingly low-res Comment from : @propergander8509 |
No Comment from : @twistedwolfadventures5263 |
I watched the remastered version in IMAX two weeks ago and it was amazing Comment from : @cypripedium9599 |
XD Comment from : @DarenKajiWolf |
When doing the sound did they add dolby atmos? Comment from : @ajstruhar2048 |
Going to the cinene to see this was just amazing Comment from : @mirochlebovec6586 |
Why do you keep saying the new version looks more natural when it looks like somebody puked Skittles all over the screen? Comment from : @illustriouschin |
Will they sell this version on bluray tho???? Comment from : @AWW_YEA81 |
They definitely remade a lot of the close ups to the main Navi'i characters There were a few shots of Jake and Netyri that had crisp photorealistic graphics Comment from : @tsohgallik |
What about that black tiger thing have the exact Trex sound from Jurassic Park like no joke they straight up stole the sound Comment from : @overheatedeskim054 |
It looks super unnatural Comment from : @austriadiamolo |
Won’t the 4K look like the original if you go for the 3D version since the glasses will shade it slightly? Comment from : @ThecrazyJH96 |
"Some changes are quite su'ul"? 0:36 Comment from : @Brickkzz |
I’ve never wanted a film to fail as much as I want this to fail I would have really appreciated this film if it had done just alright, but the fact that it’s the biggest box office film ever over Star Wars just made me soo annoyed because it just doesn’t deserve that place When it came out there was no competition No Star Wars, no marvel, barely any Christopher Nolan I saw it three times in the cinema, so I can only blame myself, and remember seeing every screen was playing avatar Never seen anything like it Comment from : @EatSleepEmpire |
oooh pretty colors haha Comment from : @MrHouse-2281 |
tanto escándalo porque le subieron más el brillo y el contraste a la película? 😒 Comment from : @dani-el |
I’ll never understand why this movie is so popular 🤷♂️ Comment from : @mad636man |
Is this change on prime video? Comment from : @miilkyystars |
I hope to see these put out in 8k Comment from : @Adamjboss187 |
If anything, Avatar fans should be awarded the most patient fans of a movie ever We literally waited 13 years for this one moment Comment from : @oceanman3676 |
Small note : I can't say this for Avatar specifically since I didn't personally work on it, but all the feature film CG I have worked on has taken advantage of the Cinemascope aspect ratio, so while it was a full 2k width, it might not have been a full 1080p height So for 1920 wide, that often translated to 832p height or 896p if we are doing 2048 wide Both are slightly more than you need, but give you a margin for letterbox cropping and are still multiples of 32 (macroblock size) Comment from : @parasharkchari |
The way you pronounce HDR is hilarious Comment from : @dsquareddan |
if only we had 4K3D at home Comment from : @Bigglare |
This is THE movie I wanted to watch when I got my new 4K OLED tv, I was so disappointed, years ago I might add! That there was no UHD version Comment from : @Chimera_Photography |
ray tracing off vs ray tracing on Comment from : @bobbby3496 |
It's gonna looks glorious on a OLED tv Comment from : @stevemuzak8526 |
Do you really think that all this green blur looks more natural? Even in a green forest for me this just looks unrealistic Comment from : @r3mus89 |
I have a 103 gig fan made 4k upscale with hdr, it looks amazing I doubt the remaster will look as good Comment from : @xGaLoSx |
I dont like the color grading at all For example the shot of him jumping on the flying creature looks like a cartoon now I dont get it Thats not realistic Colors pop way too much I expected move more to realism but this looks like its catered to children What a surprise eh? Comment from : @outlander234 |
This is sooooo much work, must have bean incredible expensive Comment from : @German_CG_Artist |
I haven't seen the remaster yet, but i'm wondering if they replaced the Trex roar from Jurrasic Park That was pretty much the only thing I didn't like in Avatar, it really pulled me out of the movie and felt lazy in an otherwise incredible experience Comment from : @kurtdewittphoto |
Great The darks look grey now Comment from : @daliilars3350 |
Really shouldn't be taking trailer visual and audio as what the film will look and sound like Comment from : @ConnorEllisMusic |
Awful movie though Comment from : @Bankoru |
I do prefer the old look The greenish tint makes it seem flatter Comment from : @LordJagd |
Finally saw it and it was greatbrbrThat sneak peak of Avatar 2brbrMy gawd it was amazing Comment from : @bluebird9444 |
One issue I heard is DNR and oversaturated of the human faces! I'm waiting for that sweet 4K blu-ray steelbook Comment from : @LILGHETTI |
STOP CHANGING MOVIES Comment from : @maxlusson |
is this supposed to look better? just the same ugly blue filter every cgi Hollywood movie slaps on Comment from : @MD-ow3nc |
I hope we get a new 3D Blue Ray release after this Fingers crossed Comment from : @mbogucki1 |
Hey, this movie doesn't look enough like a video game! Crank up the blowout everything video game graphics knob Increase the resolution without adding any fine detail to the 3d graphics? Totally makes it more like a video game Not that that's a bad thing, I love video game graphics And I'm glad everyone's excited This isn't a bad thing, it's just a thing Question, is the 4k actually 4k? Or just upscaled 2k? Comment from : @wetterschneider |
Imagine wanting to sit through that again! Comment from : @footlong4769 |
