You should look at the Texas Instruments speak and spell and speak and math I specifically had the 1990's one, but they're pretty hard to find in working condition (especially the math one) I spent years playing on those things!

My family had like 3 Leapster consoles in the late 2000s (I'm not even sure how we got them, probably used) - I remember learning how to read using the Letter Factory game/movie cartridge and the Wii's instruction manual, for some reason Something about the compressed voice clips and MIDI music just takes me right back :')

I used to have a LeapPad as a kid! I loved the heck out of it, and Scooby Doo and the Disappearing Donuts was one of my favorite cartridges I still have a few of the books lying around (I remember the groovy music, the voices, and I remember one page left me on the edge of my seat, the page with the gang slowly approaching the storage room entrance with the “monster” growling from inside off screen) Would love to find a new LeapPad and start recollecting my old books and programs

the modern leappads (at least the leappad explorer, 2 and 3) are honestly less like traditional tablets and more like leapsters with a bigger screen and less buttons Im pretty sure the leappad 2 even uses the same cpu as the leapster gs/explorer

I had a Leap Pad tablet and a Leapster L Max growing up! Honestly, the Leapster was my first gaming console before the plug and plays and PS2 I got in like 2006! It really says a lot that I had to donate it when I was like 11 because I wasnt using the thing anymore, but I still have fond memories of the L Max

I might just be blinded by nostalgia goggles but I really feel like kids today would enjoy something similar to the original leap pad I remember half the fun of it when I was a kid was wondering how it worked because it wasn't like other touch screens, and I recognized how unique it was to be reading a book with a pen When you're so used to staring at screens all day, analog technology can sometimes be more interesting, especially to kids who have never seen anything like it

I remember having a leapster and spending hours on it There was a Batman game on there that I just remember spending so much time on, it was like an actual action game and probably my first proper video game experience The screen like the GBA had horrendous lighting and being pissed I was unable to play it in the car, except for moments we’d go under a bridge in which case I’d get as much “quality” gameplay I could out of it
