During the remodel of our home in Plano, my mom decided to go with induction, about 5 years ago This meant that our gas powered range was out So no oven, and we got a similar microwave that has convection and with some gimmicky bending of waves, can also do some kind of broil with a top plate attachment Well, my mom definitely uses it all the time, so it is not a waste for us An added benefit was that our induction is a flattop so, we just have a large C shaped kitchen platform with windows so no need for an exhaust either, and we can move our stove around if we need to Really miss those features now that I'm on my own Comment from : @xjdisuehd |
Wife and our are about to move into our new home, been looking at many appliances, so much useless bullshit, everything is advertised now as having AI, washing machine, oven, dish washer, even mattress'! brbrUtter nonsense from the marketing departments, it's just a meaningless word, they don't even know what AI is, and even the best examples of genuine AI we have these days are still laughably stupid Comment from : @Enoch-Root |
I agree 100 too many unnecessary gimmicks ypu rely do not need and you will never use Comment from : @georgevavoulis4758 |
PSI loved watching all your videos and you have given me great advice I don't like any gimmicks for most of my appliances Thanks Comment from : @GayleTabor |
I have a question about a dishwasher Mine I bought from Sears and it is 17" cause I don't have much space Do they still make them if it breaks? Comment from : @GayleTabor |
We don't use the light in our dryer while it is running We use it when we are unloading the dryer, to help make sure that we did not accidentally leave anything in there, like socks - especially white socks inside of our white dryer! Comment from : @knottsafterdark |
I have a really bad habbit of opening my fridge, lookingnfor a bit, and closing it without getting anything So actually I would use that feature A Lot in particular to avoid opening the door / using energy when I'm not always going to open the door Comment from : @tntori5079 |
i think the smartglass idea is cool bc it takes me 10 minutes to peruse and decide what to eat Comment from : @gnorpflorbsen8665 |
I love your presentation and humor And I got a chuckle out of the knock knock door because my child recently saw one at a local store and was very enchanted! What a gimmick! Comment from : @lisrisch997 |

Common sense is two words that spring to mind 😊👍 Comment from : @stevenmorris2293 |

Can you pls comment on Washer cum Dryer 2 in 1? Comment from : @kittymaui |
the light on the dryer is for finding socks Comment from : @eisteezitrone8741 |
Remote Start is nice for Dishes to not soak in the water after finishing, and for meals to be hot and ready when coming home Comment from : @eisteezitrone8741 |
Hilarious how people talk about speed queen I repair them all day every day so I've seen it all The extra money you spend up front is for the extended warranty and believe me you're gonna be seeing a repair guy at some point Luckily I get a nickel for every time I hear I thought speed queen wasn't supposed to break Comment from : @steveodonnell2921 |
Can you guys do a video on the LG Sidekick washer? They look amazing and beautiful but the reviews seem like hell Comment from : @mayacastaneda8076 |
Delay start on a dishwasher is essential here in AZ Dinner is over and the dishwasher is fullout expensive electricity ends at 9:00 PM, if you ran the dishwasher at during prime time you will pay twice as much as if you waited Comment from : @grey8ghost1 |
The window is the fridge door is super gimicky The down side is it’s a window which has far less insulation than a solid door especially if there’s a window nearby shining light right on your food Comment from : @boostedmaniac |
Do you recommend and wall oven versus regular range? I need to install 220 v in my kitchen or there’s one in the market for 110 v ? What do you recommend? I really dreamed on the wall oven 😊thanks Comment from : @myriamgramajo6399 |
Thanks for the advice! I take it! I will be more wise to buy I’m in the process of remodeling and any advices are welcome specially for people like you! Thanks !!!! 🙏 What other dishwasher brand do you recommend? Comment from : @myriamgramajo6399 |
I like the bottle wash as we use it for washing parts of a milking machine that are hard to get to Comment from : @HelenEttlin |
I understand YOU may not use some of these features, but we really appreciate the bottle wash feature on our GE It really gets into our tall stainless steel workout bottles that we forgot to open for awhileyuck!! The powder mixes and such can start to grow things!! LOL!! Comment from : @kcwizard72 |
I have that kind of LG fridge though the window opens Comment from : @murruhuy8085 |
I prefer old-school appliances with no electronics or computers in them Comment from : @andrewbethea327 |
One fancy feature which I dislike are huge ovens brYou'll need much more time and energy to cook simple meals- like pizza, and never use its full capacity Comment from : @democratictotalitariansoci1462 |
I have trouble believing your name is Blake when you give such Gilbrenergy Comment from : @videokilla21 |
We could really need that bottle washer feature But we live on a dairy farm and use and reuse glass bottles to store the milk at home Comment from : @Everyyoueverymiau |
My husband says I always fall for the gimmicks 😂lol Comment from : @cocor8980 |
Great video My Speed Queen TR 7 has more than enough choices for me 90 percent of the time I used the timed dry feature on the dryer That's it They are great BTW, if you can swing it worth the extra $$$ Paying for quality not "toys" Comment from : @dianehaskins8640 |
Having a smart washing machine let's you start a cycle when energy prices are low provided you have the right power provider Good way to use renewable energy when there is a surplus Comment from : @BenjiShock |
I have a big problem with your arguments you'Re right many machines have different programs and you saying, for what?! - You using 1 or 2 thats all this is also true but the usuall program is the all purpose cycling they basically everything a bit but nothing realy goodbrbrIf you have stain, you need a stain remove program you're a office worker?! Well you never will use it anyway but no company on this earth will produce different product to fit a tiny group of persons thats why many machines have different things and most of them you won't use it that ok, trust me you're a avarage customer you don't have to use every feature of your household machine Comment from : @NebucadLaVey |
100 agree Features that you don't use are money you're spending that isn't going toward reliability Appliances are more expensive, and less reliable than ever That's the environmental impact, by the way It's not energy usage, it's in the waste of land-filling appliances ever few years If EPA is going to fix that, they need to mandate a 20 year warranty That would do more for the planet, and our pocketbooks, than the silliness they've done about saving a half gallon of water here or there Anyway, love your content! Comment from : @tomsmith3045 |
I can't stand that our LG washing machine has features that are only available via the app Rinse only? Can't do it via the panel See 4:06 Got to get out the smartphone and use the app Comment from : @gwcrispi |
Totally!! The refrigerator 😂 Comment from : @ritamontenegro975 |
Hahaha I’m a fan Comment from : @ritamontenegro975 |
The knock-for-light on the fridge might be useful if you have teenagers that open the door and stand there for 20 minutes looking inside to decide what they want Sure they have to open the fridge to get it, but it doesn't take 20 minutes to take it out Comment from : @sebdvn |
A few points - Wi-Fi can make a difference if you have time of use electricity prices Electricity is not the same price all the time around most of the world Yes you can use delay start, but you can also use your phone to start the washer/dishwasher whenever the electricity is cheaperbrWe don't have a wifi connected range but my wife would love to be able to preheat the oven before we get back from work brWhy American ovens don't have the broil and bake heating elements work all at once? It is really annoying they don't do that brWhat does normal/regular cycle mean on a washer? It does not make any sense European washers don't have such nonsense cycle for example Comment from : @kokovox |
I asked a salesperson why a refrigerator had Wi-Fi “If you’re at the store and don’t know whether you need milk, you can turn on the camera and look for it!” I had to laugh at that thought Comment from : @bc5441 |
I have a cheapo LG with knock to see thru door and my use case is 6 and 8yo kids I put all the fruit, yogurt, string cheese and such in there and they can knock and ask "can I have a?" I did not spring for door in door crazy $$$ options Sometimes my answer to kids is "If you can see it - Yes!" I do like the craft ice, though I don't really use it, and I know ice makers are the fail point Comment from : @RyanMPLS |
Couldn't agree with you more! Comment from : @honeytgb |
Start timers and remote start are pretty useful for preheating an oven so it's ready when you get home Comment from : @SpeedRacer5 |
I use the light buttons on the washer and dryer to clean the lint and gasket Wow, so gimmicky 😂 Comment from : @claudacious9947 |
i actually sometime just want to look in the fridge to see what's inside Comment from : @Yang1 |
I have a very low power fridge and it cannot tolerate lots of opening and closing of the doors It would not be great for a family with lots of kids for that reason It costs about $450 a month to operate, which is goodbrbrI'd love it if it had a glass door so I could see what I may need from the store without leaving open the door The knock to turn on the light thing not necessary, but the glass door is a winner! Comment from : @Deploracle |
Good to see John Oliver back from the WGA strike Comment from : @mibox8302 |
remote start for the oven you get a papa murphy's pizza and you can pre heat the oven on your way home bottle jets are also freaking awesome i tested mine out and it got plastered on milk and juice out of the bottles and cups i use the bottle jets on every wash it also works really well with tupperware and bowls Comment from : @Bijorak |
FYI: I like the light on the dryer to see the clothes as I’m taking them out It will go off as I am taking them out so I have to turn it on I fold as I take the clothes out Comment from : @kathyskiles5396 |
I respectfully disagree about the dishwasher feature Our energy provider lowers its rates after 9 pm I load my dishes throughout the day There have many times I forgot to turn on the dishwasher after 9 pm Comment from : @caliali8345 |
Now I know that you need 20 minutes to properly cool off a drink I’ll rprobably use my phone and set a timer Comment from : @saphire82 |
I like a light button on the dryer because sometimes I like to find certain things that I need right away or when I’m grabbing and folding right out of the dryer I can see what I’m grabbing I do find myself turning it back on when it times out, so I know that I do prefer it Comment from : @saphire82 |
Yeah cause we all need each of our appliances to be a giant freaking iphone 😂 Comment from : @mercyp7151 |
My laundry is usually the same stuff and my dishes are usually the same stuff, so I use the same cycles in those machines I had to special order my fridge to get one without a water or ice dispenser, because wouldn't use it and they're the first thing to cause problems BTW, they're all plain white appliances Comment from : @Bobrogers99 |
I used my microwave for cooking so I do use most of the features I have on mine - didn’t realize a lot of ppl don’t cook with their microwave brBut yes, totally agree - more features are a waste of money if you don’t use them - a lot of times, it’s just more to break Comment from : @katherinekelly5380 |
Agree on most of them But start timer if useful for those have electric time of use plan (off peak hours), it save $ on monthly bill And light on washer/dryer is useful to check if the clothes are all tangles up so you can pause and fix them Comment from : @lamdnhan |
I guess I'm one of the unicorns that uses these features Remote start is great for preheating so when I get home the oven's hot And we do use the screen on the fridge to uodate the shopping lists, set various cooking timers, mirror the tv in another room, etc Comment from : @kimberlindy |
You deliver great topics and content but you are also a great presenter and storyteller Your company should give you a big raise because I would buy appliances from your company just because I have found your videos useful and helpful Thanks for making the videos lighthearted and fun Comment from : @frugalw4908 |
Thx! Comment from : @SK-ki1te |
Really appreciate this info Thanks! Comment from : @veutsavoir |
IoT is usefull If you are not aware may be the utility companies are switching to Dynamic prices (time of use) price signals, in which you have to optimize the usage during off peak hours of pricing at that time IoT smart things will be useful But you point is really valid Comment from : @shaivalnagarsheth7229 |
People that buy these expensive appliances don’t buy them for the features Most of them don’t even know how to work them They buy them, to make those that can’t afford them jealous And that’s what makes those arrogant people happy Companies know this, that’s why they make them Comment from : @jonnylewis8304 |
Another fantastic video with no-nonsense advice! I've always thought of it the same way: the more gimmicky, the more the cost is Which means more costly repairs Give me the "plain Janes" and stronger builds any day! And that includes my car Comment from : @birdkitty6817 |
Please check off the the box next to: I just want it to work Spare me the nonsenseplease! Comment from : @3trilogy |
Agreed Comment from : @saidchammas |
