I’m just looking around, as a relative noob with a bit of metals experience but the pre 33s seem to be one of the most interesting coins at a decent markup, like others mentioned, each coin has a history, maybe a Capone or an Eisenhower or a Captain Smith came across these beauties in a poker game or wtvr, I can’t think of a better contrived scenario but, you know lol they’re cool! Making me rethink my 999 or better criteria Comment from : @nunzioification |
Thanks! This convinced me I'm probably not interested in pre-33 Comment from : @shawndiesel007 |
1/8th of my gold is Pre 33 I mostly have Buffalo’s but I appreciate the Pre 33 gold with its rich history and usually able to pick it up for affordable prices They’re just stunning! Comment from : @michaelangelobergeron5980 |
There are soooo many fakes out there Comment from : @EliteWatchChannel-tx5hn |
What brand and size capsule do you use for the 5 dollar coin? Comment from : @Michael-es9xw |
Thanks Comment from : @Blgtn43 |
I have 3 $250 coins and 1 $5 ill buy pre-33 before bullion anyday Comment from : @inmintstate |
All I stack is pre 1933 , not even thinking about thinking about rounds or bars 😊 Comment from : @Robert-e2h9z |
In my eyes, Pre-33 is for collecting, not stacking Something I'd get for the simple satisfaction of owning it, rather than a form of savings/wealth preservation (though it can serve that purpose as well, just maybe not as reliably as bullion) Comment from : @dbryant965 |
Maybe ill just get this coin haha Comment from : @jessewatkins6151 |
Im likr you I buy bullion gold and silver As insurance, not investment, bit i do love the historical significant I love tge 1961 D or C gold coins or the small type1 $1 coins I pay up for quality Not the hest up jewlery or measuem pieces I want what was used and not turned in Comment from : @PearlDavidson-iy4vt |
I need this coin, and i see it every day its just pricy, this also the one gold coin i just loved forever Its my favorite coin, shit i need to spring for it I was only born 4 years before the silver and gold eagle program, and i got old 1950 to 1977 coin books, and the fucking books had those nice coins Ive ben a huge fan of large cents, 2 ce t coins and 3 cent silver coins The only type of coins that matter to me is coins of bla bla bla Comment from : @jessewatkins6151 |
I know this video is three years old, but I really like pre 33 They’re not making anymore of them As long as they are not heavily worn I will continue to buy them along with 20 gold Francs Comment from : @saint438 |
As a silverbug I never knew the ( $5 Indian Head Half Eagle and the $5 Gold Half Eagle Liberty Head?) weight was like that of the Britannia sovereign 24oz that I had bought through the years (only because it was less expensive gold than 1/4 oz AGE, Phils, Maples) Now I am wondering if I should start stacking THESE instead** Actually, what are your thoughts on stacking the $5 Gold Half Eagle Liberty Heads? My budget allows me to buy a 1/4 oz gold coin every 3 or so monthsor stick with the lesser expensive 1/4ozer vs AGE like the Phils, Britannia etc) Comment from : @Eli-qr9hc |
The nice part about pre 33 is that it's both gold and historical Comment from : @Error_404 |
These half eagles are now cheaper than 1/4 oz eagles in 2024! I been purchasing them regularly for a bit now Comment from : @bings3922 |
Cool like a pirate coin 😂 Comment from : @Jaxer4 |
I'm going to look for pre 33 Gold that is 100 years older than my birthday or my anniversary Lots of graded but cleaned coins from that era that you can crack out of the case Comment from : @sed6 |
It appears you are bullion, not coins Comment from : @mikegrotte3953 |
Cheers 🥃 Comment from : @christophermccormick8670 |
My local dealer pays spot on pre-33 and new American Eagles, he doesn't care Comment from : @sed6 |
As an American, I think it's a great idea to own these gold coins Pre-33 gold coins are amazing, and every coin tells a story It blows my mind that our great great grandfathers and grandmothers were walking around with gold coins in their pockets to purchase things, it's incredible, and what do we have now? That $5 Indian eagle in capsule at the beginning of your video is beautiful Comment from : @ColorOfMoney7 |
Love the Pre 33 Gold! Comment from : @darrellnelson4378 |
❤beautiful coin Comment from : @usaalways1869 |
Looks perfect to me I want some pre 33 gold Comment from : @23Keith23 |
Sebenza Comment from : @gsmills100 |
Sorry, the modern eagles look lifeless in comparison to the half eagle-- hope that you've still got it in your collection Comment from : @ogholders |
I ordered my first 1/10th oz Britannia pretty excited It was the cheapest 1/10th oz on HeroBullion Can’t wait for it to come in Comment from : @Collectorscorner2016 |
hy 2 is 1 thank you very much for the size comparrison i wish more youtubers would do more of this with all types of gold and silver Comment from : @mikezambrano2555 |
Just grabbed a $10 Indian head love it Comment from : @appleztooranges |
740 to 1740 depending on condition Proofs can be up to as much as 21k Comment from : @Terry-zr6ys |
Maybe it’s just me, but the story of pre ‘33 gold makes it that much more appealing Not for stacking, but for the wonder and story behind these coins still existing I like getting a few here and there Premiums on pre ‘33 gold hurts though Comment from : @krsmedley |
Sell it to me! Love it! Comment from : @diyapia |
Hope you still have the Indian head Comment from : @MattyRox |
Are these worth collecting the entire set Comment from : @sif1521 |
The Indian head is more beautiful But around $700 for AU now It's a lot of premium Comment from : @slowride9994 |
$5 gold Indian head is one of my favorites Such a beautiful coin !!! Comment from : @CoinHound |
I've been seeing several guys getting their old gold coins graded, late 1800's to early 1900's and several of them have come back as counterfeit I just sent a bunch of mine off to be graded just to make sure they are actually real Comment from : @GamingwithKandA |
So the 2020 1/4 ounce of gold cost $10 and the 1909 almost 1/4 ounce of gold cost $5? Comment from : @davidgallimore9656 |
Saw one of these in my local coin shop on the auction wall I put the first bid on it I would love to have at least one of these I collect for the historical value Comment from : @fingerstylefan |
I saw that SD Bullion has that coin, and I’ve been wanting one ever since I’ve seen it The history of old gold coins is very enticing I can see why you bought it Comment from : @rce2553 |
yeah I am glad I bought that new Chevy Malibu instead of that old 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner Comment from : @Sky1 |
The best reason to own Pre 1933 is when you know why the category exists and why you should own some Comment from : @Sky1 |
I love this coin and just bought my first $5 Indian Head Comment from : @joyt9049 |
I very much like the pre33 indian coins The art is iconic It's so sad the woke mob put the kybosh on the imagery Comment from : @rewtdawg9852 |
Nice coin! Out of 4 different minted 1909 types, your “S” mint stamp is the second most valuable of all 4 👍👍 might be a coin to get graded?¿ That’d be a great unboxing video😜🎥 I referenced the recent grey sheet Comment from : @mattpinder2656 |
Great looking coin, just bought one as my first pre-1933 Not part of the main stack due to price, but really cool design and history and something I can pass down to my daughter Gotta mix it up once in a while Comment from : @affirmed_7835 |
In Europe you can buy Liberty Heads with only a premium of 7 - 8 So they are an alternative to the new bullions with no history I prefer such coins with a charakter and some marks like the wrinkles in the face of someone who knows the life, instead the new "artetficial" ones Comment from : @blackjack5324 |
I personally love pre-33 gold coins I like the Liberty head coins more I love them for their history Comment from : @crystalkim7130 |
You’re highlighting the difference between stacking and collecting I rarely buy ungraded pre-33 Plus side is additional gain potential with rarity Comment from : @treycranson |
Love the Chris Reeve Comment from : @penthouseboss82 |
Having a few pre 33 is fun in my opinion Just the thought that these coins carry with them so many stories of peoples using, holding and someone around 1933, was a rebel and said F you FDR, I’ll keep this and I don’t care it it’s illegal Real rebels The history is why I have a few, I’ll never know who had them or what stories lie in their journeys, none the less, they have them and I think they are amazing coins for that reason This $5 coin is my favorite of all the pre 33s I have 2 angel gold coins (I think they are same size as the roosters I think) I heard they were carried by French pilots during the war of their era To think that maybe one of mine were in a scared young man piloting in a historic war and survived and made its way to my collection Cool thought, doubtful but maybe! Comment from : @coleroyce |
Those saint gaudens are beautiful Comment from : @appleztooranges |
Whatever happened to good design? The old liberty coins look Colonial, but the Indians are majestic Even the modern Buffalo can't compare It has the right elements, yet drab in comparison One hundred years from now, I think the opinion will be the same Especially with the new eagles If it weren't for the hook on the beak, you'd think the eagle was a ground hog or something If design is a reflection of culture we've gone from majestic to common Comment from : @michaelb406 |
I'd think that if you do the math on the amount of gold in each type of pre 33 coin, you can compare its premium vs new coins and see if you are at least getting a reasonable price on the bullion content Comment from : @whiterosemotors9026 |
Which is a better long term investment? I'm trying to stack for retirement and I've heard you can turn pre-33 for a much higher profit later, but I have my doubts Comment from : @valholla4499 |
doug polk here Comment from : @MrTassadit |
Very first gold coin I got is identical to this one! 1909 D $5 Indian head after my sister passed away I’ll keep this puppy for life My next coin was 1 oz American gold eagle Next I’m going for buffalo if we get a dip Comment from : @appleztooranges |
Would make a sweet necklace Comment from : @EddieDiggz |
I’m not a jewelry type of guy but I always thought if I were to wear a coin in a bezel around my neckit’d be one of these pre-33 Indians The design is beautiful I definitely don’t plan on buying any pre-33 for my stack though It sure is pretty though 🤩 Comment from : @Four9ines |
I like the Indian head as well But totally correct, modern bullion is worth all effort Pre 33… who knows what you’re mispaying or if you can sell it easily, or how much you’re being taken advantage of if you have you over think the date But yeah… a few 33 coins are cool for historical love Comment from : @MattDeckard |
What size capsule does that $5 come come in? I’m picking up pre 33 today for $600 from my local coin dealer Comment from : @appleztooranges |

Great video, wish you spoke more about them as in worth and grade Comment from : @GhostDiZ |
btw 1909s is a good one to have graded if its graded in mint state it could fetch a pretty penny cheers Comment from : @MrBennymarco |
how could you not like pre33 designs? all the modern bullion is based off of the pre33 lol i have alot of modern bullion but have been stacking pre33 hard too for many reasons pre33 is by far better than modern dont have to buy slab pre33, can go for raws Comment from : @MrBennymarco |
Just bought a 1911 $5 Indian Head gold piece yesterday Wasn't looking for gold at my LCS, but I loved the looks and didn't know when I'd stumble across another one, so it came home Most likely the only one I get since I prefer 1/4 oz or greater coins Comment from : @fu4616 |
The price is as high as the coin is worth Comment from : @rainbowmusic274 |
Why does a $5 gold coin only have 1/10 oz of gold while a $20 gold coin has almost 1 oz? That's confusing and unsuspecting buyers might believe it's 25 oz Comment from : @charlesgross4893 |
I fell for the $10 indian Had to have onebrAlso the 20 mexican peso The designs Comment from : @rogertayloRRR |
All indians are hard dates 09 _0 is the best Comment from : @johnbaker2051 |

the pre 33 gold double eagle is my fav coin, with that big flying eagle on the reverse Comment from : @nathanr494 |
The half Indian is the most often made fake Don’t know why, just say’in Comment from : @gordonblank6845 |
I do have an ms65 or better double eagle on my collection list, but I will probably be a much older man before that happens brFocusing on weight at this time Comment from : @youKnowWho3311 |
I have a $1 gold liberty 1854 smallest US coin ever minted! I bought it mostly for the history and uniqueness definitely not something I will stack! But it is cool that it’s gold! Comment from : @ThePlatinumBeast |
Interesting video!!! 👍 Comment from : @frankie_66 |
love your channel Comment from : @kunacoins9246 |
To me, pre-33 has more character because people actually used them My mother gave me a quarter eagle and all of her silver coins, including an 1854-O half, while my brother got the gold eagle I know I would be less inclined to sell "real" coins, so if there are some decent looking circulated coins from the US or foreign country, I might considering purchasing a few of them in addition to the AGE Comment from : @ralphotte8156 |
What capsules do you buy? I like how it is sealed in clear capsules and no foam Comment from : @whoops8412 |
I just bought three of them in AU condition Comment from : @goldcicvibefel9966 |
