That parents compel their children to accept Biblical fairy-tales as reality even as they approach adulthood, I find appalling That parents teach their children from their youngest conscious ages that there are demons on and beneath the earth, angels in the sky and that they’ll be burned and tortured forever and ever if they’re naughty is cruel in addition to being ridiculous Why do we not condemn this BS as the abuse and sickness that it is? We do condemn and prosecute physical and emotional abuse of children but we remain silent about this crushing intellectual/emotional assault upon them Religious parents speak of “love” but they teach their children superstition and terror Comment from : @philipfarnam6013 |

Yep, I was one of the ones that was confronted with the idea of no afterlife when I got older, it was bad for my mental health, too bad to go into detail here Comment from : @azrael6925 |

She's not professional Her practice number should be revoked 😂😂😂😂 Comment from : @hervebenganga8561 |

When Prof Plink and his waifu reddit bots in the comments say 'indoctrination', in essence their point is people are raising their own children in a way they don't like I would also call your philosophy intellectual perversion, therefore it is indoctrination Only that I haven't elaborated, same as every other reddit atheist here Comment from : @ChuckY93 |
Yes, teach your children about how evil religion is 😊 Comment from : @Aleiza_49 |

Teach them exactly what god is and they'll be immune Comment from : @theiaminu5375 |

I spent my childhood terrified out of my mind because of hell and the rapture, because the christian cult I was raised in included eternal conscious torment and even though they preached eternal security (once saved always saved) they held the threat of "not a true Christian if you don't follow their rules" over everyone's heads They literally said many people who thought they were saved would be left behind or find themselves in hell forever uoon death because of not being truly saved😮 Also everyone who didn't follow their exact doctrine was in hell forever, which included two uncles I really loved and all my grandparents 😢 Comment from : @rochelebierhalspereira7106 |

"Lie to your kids"brbrJust like the church does Comment from : @MrDalisclock |

If make believe helps children, we should just switch God with Santa Claus? After all, all kids prefer Santa he actually brings the goods! Comment from : @josephsaulski |

I feel like you backstepped intelligence by referring to an even balance communication for understandin as an excuse for this expose Comment from : @PWigglman1492 |

A set of truck wheel bearings is better than teaching kids religion When it comes to curing depression brbrWhen I was 9, I wished for truck accidents so I can scavenge ball bearings brI already had the hard and glass ones, but they were not as heavy as the steel balls I used to get bullied because of that brbrI attempted to steal bike wheel bearings that my bully owned thinking he wouldn't notice because it's small Comment from : @bizudamarasengan |

And the depression thing post covid could have to do with also the political upheaval that happened during covid I know I got depressed watching a bunch of crazy people going around rioting all the time but everyone's telling me that it was good for the country and that it was perfectly fine even though if I did it because I might I'd be arrested Comment from : @Thkaal |

I'm a child (teenager) atheist and I was extremely anxious at first when I learned about the idea of God not existing when I was 10 but now that I'm 14 I'm fine with it I'd still rather a god exist but I wanna live in reality and not lies so I know there isn't a god I also grew up agnostic I guess because my father is atheist and my mother is Christian so I've basically grown up to make my own decision to believe in God or not because my parents never forced a god or an atheist belief on me I was always just half believing in God mainly because I was scared of the idea of God not existing Comment from : @Poizin77 |

Very smart ; how about if Christians adoctrinate their children into Islam HA HA HA brthis lady is a very imbecile person Comment from : @ernestoamador2481 |
The insanity of a licensed (?) therapist promoting misleading your children about God, heaven etc, only to find out later it is all lies is better and healthier than learning to deal with and love life as it exists and comes is alarming My response to her can only be "You stay the f*&k away from my kids!" Comment from : @Eric-tj3sg |

Anyone want to go pray with Mark Wahlberg real quick? Comment from : @mattyd2818 |

"They loved Fighto a hell of a lot more than they loved their vaguely racist great aunt who only ever sent them ugly brown sweaters on their birthday"brI feel like this is some Plink lore, pent up anger from his childhood 😂 Comment from : @Anti-World_Theory |
As a child, I would have felt better about dying knowing that nothing waited for me rather than a place of eternal fire a pain if I didn't follow their god exactly how they raised me to Comment from : @Erebus1871 |
So, is Islam a good source of warm fuzzies? How about the FLDS cult? Maybe kidd being preyed upon by Catholic priests is the answer Comment from : @InWhoseOpinion |
9:10 She doesn't even say nihilism, sounds more like kneelism Comment from : @krypton1260 |
Do you think she was mispronouncing nihilism on purpose? Comment from : @CheaterzEye |
awesome video, im just wondering though, are you a real proffesor Comment from : @boblol1465 |
When I initially was a super thanker, I didn't have any particular reason to find this video particularly helpful Now, however, I have 3 kids who look to me to help them gain a better understanding of the world, and if I thought managing 250 workers was a heavy responsibility, that was nothing Their mother is not an Atheist, exactly, but she wants to allow them to develop their own beliefs (spiritually speaking) I don't tell them, "There's no God, kids Granny is just a stupid, deluded old person whose parents told her fairy tales" If they have questions, I will tell them in the least biased way the answer that I understand to be true Comment from : @Ten80pete |
As someone who worked in the psychiatric field for decades, her assertions are incredibly irresponsible, unethical, and potentially harmful Comment from : @AndrewJohnson-oy8oj |
The implication/corollary to 6:35 is that religious communities make a person feel worse if that person is not active in the religion part of the community, as if being shunned or ignored by one's community and family is bad for mental health I could be wrong Surely good christians wouldn't act so heinously Comment from : @jitagan |
My parents taught me that Santa Claus was real at a young age But when I got to the age that I was able to think for myself, they told me the truth brbrLittle kids will believe whatever you tell them Being able to demonstrate that not all dearly held beliefs are true is an important lesson for them to learn, once they're capable of skepticism Comment from : @Cool-Vest |
At 17 minutes an admission from Prager that it is all imaginary ! Comment from : @natbretagne7220 |
I think it would expected that atheists would talk with their children about atheism and why they are an atheist I would hope that they would also talk to their children about many of the various religions and take them to visit churches and temples so they could make an informed decisions about their own beliefs Comment from : @mikehart5619 |
My parents never really told me about religion Because they knew if they did it would end up with them opposing their atheism on me So they encouraged me to do research, ask some religious friends With all the knowledge that I got from my religious friends, and my research I came to the conclusion on my own that God isn’t real And that if he was real I wouldn’t ever worship him because he’s an ass So yes, parents teaching their kids about god, etc is healthy, and probably the best way to go about it, but when parents know the at they will impose, telling your kid to do their own research is the next best thing (I would also suggest looking at the seven tenants of the Satanic temple They are way better than one would think) Comment from : @lionpazam |

Religious is like drugs in our brain not only day affect us but they also destroy us from reality Comment from : @josegaleano6932 |

"Let 'em all go to hell except Cave 26!" - the first hymn Comment from : @70snostalgia |
I was a very skeptical child, and never really believed, but the cruel god from the bible made me not even want to believe My parents struggled with these things because they hadn't realised how cruel their god was and I would add every time I came back from Sunday school and one of the many stories of cruelty had been told Children are empathetic, just not in the way adults are It's sad so many people lost or buried that side of themselves Comment from : @Lillith |
Demented Comment from : @miketan8190 |

I hate this woman There aren't a lot of people I'd say I hate I don't even hate my drunk uncle who crashed my car and never paid me back for any of it But this woman, I hate her She's disgusting and manipulative Comment from : @NoodleKeeper |
Dude why would you want to live on coruscant that seems like the worst place in the universe Comment from : @shadowlazers |
The fact that this came from a therapist is disturbing and saddening Comment from : @CynthiaMcCraw |
My Catholic experience was much simpler Jesus loves you, God loves you, and if you sin, in any way, you are going to Hell I was 7 years old and, at that point, I decided I wanted no part in that religion As I got older, I eventually realized that religion, any theistic religion, does more harm than good Comment from : @katalytically |
Regarding depression talk, my happiness (and possibly many others, someone should make a study about that) is directly related to my bank account balance Funny, eh? Comment from : @UltimatePerfection |
It’s a stupid question! Comment from : @ttocselbag5054 |
I think she surely would love the idea of an atheist teaching his/her children Islam Or wouldn't she ? There is 1 god too and there are a community, charity, rules to obey and all other criterias she attributes to "Church"brSo from her sight Islam should be equivalent to Christianity Comment from : @anderland9931 |
WTF? This lady is stupid Comment from : @shelliegilbertson9828 |
No one seems to be exposed to God to make an informed choice, they are only exposed one or more of the thousands of religions Comment from : @Specialeffecks |
I have always been atheist raised atheist and did not know what neilest was Comment from : @brentmiller3951 |
Another zealot allowing their religion to supercede their professional obligations Don't take your kids to this charlatan She obviously doesn't care about facts near as much as she does her religious beliefs You can't trust someone like that Comment from : @exploderwrestlingpodcast2721 |
I can definitely say that never being taught about heaven, as a child, did not make me fear death I was quite happy to accept that people die, and that's just it, you stop being Comment from : @JetsetMiner |
5:39 Uhhh, I think you missed another aspect of non-belief in the Christian God, namely believing in bother/b gods, like Zeus, Osiris, or Ganesha Comment from : @cachehoward2852 |
Religion can help and destroy some people do turn to religion to help however that doesnt take from the religion trauma Community is what actually helps out Im depressed because of trauma not from not being raised religiousbrbrHowever Christianity isproblematic and evangelicals dont help that I believe in not forcing a belief on your child brbrAlso online friends are real friend, i have an online friend that I have been friends with for 7ish years Comment from : @ChaosDragon809 |
Pope Francis told a little boy that his dead dog had gone to heaven That’s a big step forward But I sure hope he doesn’t send the cats there Comment from : @timothymulholland7905 |

I was raised to believe in god, and did so I was a depressed child as well Comment from : @cleansweepman |
I will always be honest with my child brIt shows how brainwashed she is, literally saying lying is okay to promote a false security, I guess that's religion for you 🤷 Comment from : @user-hf1tv1fl2o |
I like your work, so I wanted to give feedback While your logic may be sound with regards to why one should not be afraid of non-existence, the human race (and their fears) are irrational all the time Just because it is reasonable to face and learn to overcome debilitating irrational fears does not mean a parent’s concern that their [children’s irrational fears] are unfounded… Just as a parent may want to help their children through a fear of the dark or a fear of the vacuum cleaner, so too are they justified in wanting to deal with their fear of non-existence Comment from : @benjaminbauer3935 |
My family is not religious at all Thus, my nephew and niece were first confronted with the idea of a god in primary school (one of the subjects is religion in some German states) Both are highly skeptical and don't believe the bs Oh, and both aren't nihilistic or depressed at all Comment from : @Icelandchan |
I disagree at the point at 15:34 Fear of death was a real thing before my dad told me about the uncertainty of it all Comment from : @imaginative6315 |
My parents never taught me about god, just found out im an atheist about a year or two ago When I was a kid it was very simple to understand death just means the end Comment from : @BilliamJoyBoy |
They way she said the belief in nothing was so funny idk why 😂😂😂 Comment from : @Bangin0utWest |
Did she even source cite that study Comment from : @Bangin0utWest |
As someone who has a history of childhood in my family I agree children should be indoctrinated into the religion of secular skepticism Comment from : @TheHonestPeanut |
I find it funny that my two siblings and I who are atheist are more empathetic than most our religious family brbrAnd also, i hate the whole idea from religion about lying to kids It pissed me off as a kid I hated knowledge being kept from me Because usually after i figured it out on my own i still didnt understand why those questions made my parents lie It made me feel like they lied just because they wanted power Comment from : @megzasaurusrex |
I used to believe people who were atheist suffered from anxiety and depresion but know I know its wrong Comment from : @DomainofKnowlegdia |
Not putting my kid in any church sorry Comment from : @brentmiller3951 |
I wonder if she is paid to indoctrinate children in Sunday school? Comment from : @alpo6668 |
“Entitlement ”? Every religion creates entitlement Comment from : @alpo6668 |
I was seriously considering taking my future children to church just so they could have a community, but after watching this video I’m definitely rethinking that brbrI also realized that it took trauma from my church to take me from starting to think about Atheism and I wouldn’t want to put my kids through that Comment from : @Jack-bt7qg |
I believed in Santa Clause, I did not pass that lie on to my kids Comment from : @alpo6668 |
She completely left out the old doctrine of Limbo / Purgatory That was a very "real" thing when I was a kid How beneficial was that? Also, let's not forget Hell! A place of eternal excruciating suffering Comment from : @Rooktakesbishop |
And my nihilism leads me to think "Nothing I do really makes a difference in the big picture But it can make a big difference on a small scale So why not make my infinitesimal impression a good one" Comment from : @RurikDankil |
The idea that I should indoctrinate my kids into a belief system I don’t hold is truly wild to me Comment from : @Cowface |
Sure they should, as soon as believes teach their kids it's ok not to believe Funny how it cuts one way Comment from : @diegooland1261 |
To the community point, if we're being honest, these secular community spaces barely exist in real life We need to improve in that arena and build our own stuff for community Comment from : @joegasparro2395 |
That " therapist " is full of the foul-smelling smelling hog manure I have ever heard speaking She's a right-wing tool of the fetid Prager U Comment from : @johnfox9169 |
NO I do not lie to children Comment from : @z0rrofan9 |
Cutting out religion from my life and mindset allowed me to ground myself Really focus on what’s going on in my life, and actually think about what I can do about it Focusing on the otherwordly only served to sabotage the progress towards being a better and happier person Meanwhile, the religious aspects only served to make me feel shame about all of the illness and abuse in my life Comment from : @aberrantreptile |
Sure! Convert the atheïsts 🤗 Great!brbr Uhm brbr question brbrInto which religion? Which deity / which subspecies of deity?brbrAs every religion claims to be THE ONE TRUE RELIGION I'll need the agreed upon (among believers) answer before I can convert correctlybrbrUhm hello?br😁 Okay, I'll wait for the answer! Comment from : @AdLockhorst-bf8pz |
The fact that she's blaming teen depression and anxiety on a lack of belief in God is HILARIOUS to me, as someone who was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder at 15 years old and with Clinical Depression during the time I was more frequently attending church with my mother 😂😂😂😂😂 Comment from : @cutienerdgirl |
If my therapist said I was depressed because of my lack of belief in a God, I'd walk out Comment from : @kingmarx810 |
NO! Comment from : @tygrahof9268 |
9:13 "Nihilism [is] the belief in nothing"brWtf is this woman smoking? Belief in nothing? What does that even mean? That the person has no beliefs whatsoever? Definitely not the definition of nihilism I'm a nihilist lmao Comment from : @pythondrink |
Religion was the cause of my depression Comment from : @humanbn1057 |
