That parents compel their children to accept Biblical fairy-tales as reality even as they approach adulthood, I find appalling That parents teach their children from their youngest conscious ages that there are demons on and beneath the earth, angels in the sky and that they’ll be burned and tortured forever and ever if they’re naughty is cruel in addition to being ridiculous Why do we not condemn this BS as the abuse and sickness that it is? We do condemn and prosecute physical and emotional abuse of children but we remain silent about this crushing intellectual/emotional assault upon them Religious parents speak of “love” but they teach their children superstition and terror

I spent my childhood terrified out of my mind because of hell and the rapture, because the christian cult I was raised in included eternal conscious torment and even though they preached eternal security (once saved always saved) they held the threat of "not a true Christian if you don't follow their rules" over everyone's heads They literally said many people who thought they were saved would be left behind or find themselves in hell forever uoon death because of not being truly saved😮 Also everyone who didn't follow their exact doctrine was in hell forever, which included two uncles I really loved and all my grandparents 😢

I'm a child (teenager) atheist and I was extremely anxious at first when I learned about the idea of God not existing when I was 10 but now that I'm 14 I'm fine with it I'd still rather a god exist but I wanna live in reality and not lies so I know there isn't a god I also grew up agnostic I guess because my father is atheist and my mother is Christian so I've basically grown up to make my own decision to believe in God or not because my parents never forced a god or an atheist belief on me I was always just half believing in God mainly because I was scared of the idea of God not existing

When I initially was a super thanker, I didn't have any particular reason to find this video particularly helpful Now, however, I have 3 kids who look to me to help them gain a better understanding of the world, and if I thought managing 250 workers was a heavy responsibility, that was nothing Their mother is not an Atheist, exactly, but she wants to allow them to develop their own beliefs (spiritually speaking) I don't tell them, "There's no God, kids Granny is just a stupid, deluded old person whose parents told her fairy tales" If they have questions, I will tell them in the least biased way the answer that I understand to be true

I think it would expected that atheists would talk with their children about atheism and why they are an atheist I would hope that they would also talk to their children about many of the various religions and take them to visit churches and temples so they could make an informed decisions about their own beliefs

My parents never really told me about religion Because they knew if they did it would end up with them opposing their atheism on me So they encouraged me to do research, ask some religious friends With all the knowledge that I got from my religious friends, and my research I came to the conclusion on my own that God isn’t real And that if he was real I wouldn’t ever worship him because he’s an ass So yes, parents teaching their kids about god, etc is healthy, and probably the best way to go about it, but when parents know the at they will impose, telling your kid to do their own research is the next best thing (I would also suggest looking at the seven tenants of the Satanic temple They are way better than one would think)

I was a very skeptical child, and never really believed, but the cruel god from the bible made me not even want to believe My parents struggled with these things because they hadn't realised how cruel their god was and I would add every time I came back from Sunday school and one of the many stories of cruelty had been told Children are empathetic, just not in the way adults are It's sad so many people lost or buried that side of themselves

My Catholic experience was much simpler Jesus loves you, God loves you, and if you sin, in any way, you are going to Hell I was 7 years old and, at that point, I decided I wanted no part in that religion As I got older, I eventually realized that religion, any theistic religion, does more harm than good
