@dawe964
what are the possible consequences on your relationship with the kids if you ignore this problem (they ignoring you as a child) What sorta teenage they are likely to become?
Comment from : @dawe964

@kristianakrista
What should be the consequence of not listening? Taking toys away, not being able to watch TV? Examples, please?
Comment from : @kristianakrista

@dawe964
Thanks to exist I’ve been assuming this and been telling my girlfriend forever I dunno how this video even reached me out I assumed the algorythm device is always listening 😅

Comment from : @TR-707

@pernormann4869
I often told my kids to "look me in the eyes" Most of the time i followed up with things such as do you want go to the play ground, do you want to have a bath, i love you etc Worked like a charm everytime
Comment from : @pernormann4869

@Brohoe

@ehvway
its sad to see that a lot of parents just give a tablet or a phone to a child so they dont have to raise their children!brThey should watch these videos instead!
Comment from : @ehvway

@shadowhacker27
Interestingly enough, this works with teens and wives as well I showed everyone the consequences of not listening at first order and now I just need to snap my fingers and point Words are unnecessary
Comment from : @shadowhacker27

@Redservasian
Can you breakdown examples of consequences if they don’t listen the first time?
Comment from : @Redservasian

@ElGoogKO
THIS is what teens should be taught in school alongside how to do their taxes, how to be financially savvy, how to be self sufficient (and not depend on the hand that feeds you) instead of all the nasty stuff they are being assaulted by (like ideological politics propaganda ) As they reach 18yo, and go into adulthood, they will be able adults that won't crumble and won't make mistakes (like having kids until they reach a certain financial stability prospect) brBecause this logical and productive education makes better parents that, in turn lead to greater kids, which they themselves will grow into better parents
Comment from : @ElGoogKO

@josephyeo6966
Consistency is also very important, with both parents Especially with the working or frequently absent spousebrYou can smell trouble when a child says "but mommy/daddy let me do this" Always backup your spouse and discuss disagreements quietly in private Gets worse when you are a grandparent
Comment from : @josephyeo6966

@WillHsuMusic
Keeping this in mind for my kids And my high schoolers because I’m pretty sure the spirit of this should work for one of my classes of freshmen 😂
Comment from : @WillHsuMusic

@TheMilkman710
All this works with adults too
Comment from : @TheMilkman710

@MrLordSandwich
I work with teenagers Sounds very similar

@mysticmarbles
My toddler is from Bizarro world He LOVES to help with everything He picks up his toys, throws away trash, cleans up messes He gets mad if you do it for him We didn't teach him that either he just decided to be a little neat freak
Comment from : @mysticmarbles

@douglasclerk2764
Makes sense - I've seen this behaviour every year of my 48 (& counting) year teaching carreer
Comment from : @douglasclerk2764

@ranhernandez1
😂 this won’t work with Mexican 🇲🇽 parents
Comment from : @ranhernandez1

@tazzy6403
So what do when they run into the kitchen when I'm handling hot food? Saying to go into the living room while I'm in cooking and the reason isn't working I don't even know what the natural consequence is tbh
Comment from : @tazzy6403

@Hscaper
This isn’t working with mine Mine is smarter I say “you want bath time or shower time?” And the response I get is “not dirty”
Comment from : @Hscaper

@lorrainel3140
How I wish I knew these when my kids were little 😂 trying to get them to response at once is still an issue sometimes
Comment from : @lorrainel3140

@iwillhaveanorder5000
It all depends on the child There is no ultimate way to do this, just pay attention and adjust
Comment from : @iwillhaveanorder5000

@Geo-vw9oz
Stop giving your kids tablets, it's lazy parenting and only destroys you child's attention span
Comment from : @Geo-vw9oz

@CJrunner7199
This has definitely happened with my daughter, although I rebuke the idea that it was my fault She has ADHD and SPD and she never did listen I was used to being very patient and explaining things to my other kids who are all very sensitive and responsive It did not work with her If she's within arm's reach, I'll touch her to get her attention, but that lasts a millisecond I have to hold onto her and fight her to look at me if there are any distractions around And in the middle of telling her what not to do, she'll do exactly what I just said not to Again and again and again It just falls on deaf ears It's like all frontal lobe activity has ceased So if she's out of my reach, I have to raise my voice, and sometimes it becomes yelling because she very often does dangerous things like run across the street without looking I already feel like I have PTSD from her childhood and I already had PTSD so I don't say that lightlybrI do try very hard to bring my voice down as soon as it's not necessary to yell I know some other people with two kids with autism and ADHD that are constantly screaming at their kids and in a very shaming way Their kids ignore them, of course But maybe they would have anyway I think they yell when it's not at all necessary, though, which makes it seem to them even more like their kids are ignoring them, which keeps them in a constant state of frustration
Comment from : @CJrunner7199

@lwo7736
My elder siblings have raised awful demon children (harsh, but it's true) and it's made me feel like I never want to have kidsbrbrProbably for the best haha

@Avery_4272
I really appreciate that you not only offer such great advice, but you always follow it up with "For example," and share what can be said By the way, re: "Avoid phrasing your instructions or requests as questions," I don't know if this would qualify as a version of that, but I often hear parents tack onto the end of their instruction, "okay?" I imagine there must be exceptions, but usually (to my ears), that makes them sound unsure of themselves or like they're asking their child if it's alright to request/instruct something (And, of course, the "okay?" leaves things wide open for some version of 'no!") I'd be curious as to your take on this Again, thanks for your wonderful video!
Comment from : @Avery_4272

@letmespeakthetruth1601
Literally, every toddler is different And they are very smart and learn to make you do things their way Raise your kids as you see fit Just that you have to really invest some time in thinking through itbrbrFollowing advice from the internet to decide how to deal with your kids is useless and dangerous
Comment from : @letmespeakthetruth1601

@krishnakumarsubramanian3292
Ah so basically they are just like dogs

@sivaranjani-A-o3e
Can you put a video on how to potty train a adhd kid
Comment from : @sivaranjani-A-o3e

@Liliththelizard
My son has adhd It's awful to get a connection with him bhowever/b as soon as he actually comprehends what I'm saying and really bhears/b me he is very good at following instructions and requests brHe is a wonderful child, but damn I need to apologise to my mother for my adhd😂 I was an awful child but at least my son is turning out better than I❤
Comment from : @Liliththelizard

@Pulapaws
You children is always listening even we you think their not I just say ice cream or chocolate when she pretending not to hear me, lol She usually do it when it something she don’t want to do For my little one just turn two To get his attention I say bye because he knows what bye means He haven’t learn coming to his name yet, he will say his name We need to work on that one 😂
Comment from : @Pulapaws

@TeraGreene1
No wonder my kid always listened to me and still does, almost as a 7 year old… versus throwing things and yelling at his other mom He’s always been so good with me and I understand why We even do “what did we learn “ checkins together Guess I’m doing something right 😊
Comment from : @TeraGreene1

@Pastinake92
Thank you great advice

@withers3320
Is there an evidence base behind this advice?
Comment from : @withers3320

@3enegerling773
Thank you for this video As a kindergarten teacher and father of two, I see the behavior mentioned so often Especially when sentences are asked as questions instead of statements, or when parents are not consistent If you tailor your communication to the needs of the children, you have already saved yourself a lot of work and the child a lot of stress As someone who works with children every day, I can only agree with this videobrGreetings from Germany
Comment from : @3enegerling773

@Nias_prints
Will this help for stuborn 6 yo? 😅
Comment from : @Nias_prints

@hhc466

@johnnykidblue

Comment from : @johnnykidblue

@melissaleo9611
Can this work also with say an 8 year old boy? Consequences for not doing as told the first time round?
Comment from : @melissaleo9611

@Fhjklp
This is all great advice, but did you start slowing down your videos? At normal speed you speak abnormally slow It’s at 125 speed that you sound like a slower speaking person, but 15 speed is more like a normal conversational speed I know a lot of YouTubers do it to extend their video length for more ad revenue these days, but please don’t follow that trend
Comment from : @Fhjklp

@chandan2836
Tf was this in my recommendation, I'm a college student
Comment from : @chandan2836

@exosproudmamabear558
Please also consider if your chilren have adhd my mother and I have adhd people needs to call me multiple times before I can even notice I dont even hear them

Comment from : @hotpenguin607

@noizeaous7267

Comment from : @noizeaous7267

@Seacle14
What kind of a question is "It's time to go to bed!" ???
Comment from : @Seacle14

@Maouww
You can follow up an ignored request by asking them if they understood you - prompting them for a response
Comment from : @Maouww

@Andtherewasguitar
Great video! I have a very will strong three year old and I feel I already did some things right like giving a preview what's to come, but the tip about stopping what I'm doing to give full attention was new I'll give that a try next
Comment from : @Andtherewasguitar

Comment from : @shenghu6651

@codyhoskisson7443
Small tip here: to avoid being overwhelmed by the requirement to be fully in the moment when you give commands that you want to be obeyed the first time, try giving fewer commands
