I live in the UK and counties here are SOOOO confusing having come from America There are "historic" counties, which are just ceremonial, local governments (which can correspond to ceremonial counties, but usually do not, and in London are for boroughs and not counties), plus the Royal Mail has its own idea of what a county is So for example, the nearby City of Bath is part of the ceremonial county of Somerset, is administered by the Bath & North East Somerset county council, but according to the Royal Mail is in the county of Avon (which was also a governmental county up until about twenty years ago) It's CRAZY!!!!!!
