The salary that teachers are paid in the US is a total scam Compared to the amount of money college students are forced to spend on their education including their credentials and internships, countless number of exams they have to pass, hoops they have to jump through, etc, their salary does NOT compensate them enough The average teacher spends 5 years in debt after they graduate, and still, their salary doesn't reward them enough for the amount of skill, talent, energy and passion required to perform all of those duties expected of a classroom teacher Sure, money isn't the main motivator, but you have to pay a liveable wage AND much more in order to recruit the best talent THAT is the truth in ANY OTHER FIELD!!!! ONLY IN TEACHING our future leaders is America sooo f&&king cheap and cutting corners left and right WHAT does that say about the government's attitude about teachers and children--- our future!!! There is no love therebr The whole sh&t is a scam

Thanks, Maya Your video is so encouraging I am a teacher in Hawaii and I get paid about $52K, and I have been working at the public school for 18 years No incentive for years of service But I am a Christian too, and tithing is so important to give back to our LORD I do not have a Masters Degree I started at 27K, since I was not licensed, When I got licensed about 4 years later, I jumped to 32K So still we are paid way below Thanks for all of your encouragement, and to read the bible! The upsetting part is that I work as a Retail Store Manager, never went to college I simply worked my way up since I was 18 until now which I’m 23 (5 years) and make about $97k a year Tell me why that’s unfair compared to my sister who went to university for 7 years and got a bachelors and masters in Elementary teaching and spent hours studying to only make $40k a year and she gets no bonus and every year she makes $15k more wtf!!!!!

Wow, this is appalling I’ve been teaching high school for 4 years in Australia and my pay is equivalent to $58 000 USD We receive a pay increase every year AND get paid throughout our holidays Our holiday pay is not taken from our earnings during the working year either By the time I have been teaching for 9 years my pay will be roughly $70000 USD

I am a 4th year high school teacher in California My starting salary was $48k I realized that even for a single person in California, that salary is not enough to start saving So my 2nd year I took on extra duty and taught all 6 periods, bumping total income to $60k/year My third year I did not do extra duty because I was super busy outside of teaching so my total income was $52k/year My 4th year I took on 6 classes again, club advising, and work summer school, raising my total income to $80k/year My base salary my 4th year is $54k and doing all these extra duty stuff adds an additional $26k For a single person, $80k/year for teaching is definitely more than enough to live well but it requires a teacher to do a lot more It definitely is doable to make this kind of income as a teacher ONLY if you have really no other obligations like a spouse and kids, graduate school, and etc going on My net monthly income is about $4,500 I have 0 debt and save about $2500/month My personal spending budget is $400/month The rest of my net income, $1600, goes to rent, cell phone, gym membership, giving, and car insurance That's it! I'm 26 by the way
