And when they don't want to struggle? When they would rather talk about other things than the subject of the lesson? When they don't like to person or group they are partnered with? brbrI'm off for student centered learning and I'm interested in it but the videos in general are so vague as if it happens on its own I like the idea of self-assessment because that brings in the chance for the student to be at least conscious or honest about the choices they've made in any given class session Still that doesn't mean that they're going to engage in the lesson brbrI work in a middle school music class that's student-centered and there's a lot of what feels like to me vines sprawling without a trellis brbrAny student-centered learning video should show actual classrooms not just talk about the ideas It sounds great on paper but for me It involves a tolerance for messiness and isn't just about turning it over to students Unless there's multiple adults in the room to keep circulating and shining a light on what students are choosing to do But for me when I'm in there with 20 or 30 kids at a time that means a lot of kids can just go back to whatever they were doing before I came by regardless how I encourage them to ask questions or come get me if they need me or what have you Comment from : @blozzom2 |
