I just bought a French Rooster and an American gold Buffalo the other day and it wasn’t bad on premiums, I did get the Rooster on sale at spot but gold is just expensive now days!

The reason no more original roosters were made after 1906, was because enough were minted in commerce After the first world war, they were restruck again in 1921 to pay for war debt, and to pay many French solders that were not paid properly, because of the war They were again restruck during the 1950s up to 1960 for international payments and for banks to sell them They were dated from 1907 to 1914, to keep the series running from the original pieces If France were to restrike new pieces of Marianne they would have todays date The last pieces were struck in 1960, and dated 1914

There were originals struck between 1907-1914 It can be difficult, though, to distinguish between the coins originally struck during those years and the later restrikes, which all have dates from 1907 to 1914

The reason you cannot find any original roosters from 1907 to 1914, is because none were made The original pieces are from 1899 to 1907 The pieces made from 1907 to 1914 are official restrikes The 1900 being the rarest, and a proof also made The official restrikes were made from 1951 and struck during the 1950s
