Recent research on the Early English Online (EEBO) database shows that many of the expressions once attributed to Shakespeare did in fact appear in print before he used them "Swagger", for example, occurs several years before MND was written, in a 1592 edition of a work by Robert Greene Greene attacked Shakespeare in print at around the same time, and it is highly likely that Shakespeare had read Greene's work See youtube/HzX8M-WkdA4 for details of how we can use the EEBO database to find out whether such phrases were really coined by Shakespeare!
