In what sort of catastrophic scenario would a money market fund break the buck? I suppose this tiny probability risk is compensated for by a yield that is slightly higher than what the high yield savings accounts are paying Also, the main advantage of a money market fund that I see is that if you for some reason have more than $250K in cash, you wouldn't have to split it up at different places/banks to be insured like you would at FDIC insured banks
