Yea that's equal rights at work Women get to keep their hair but men have to shave it? I was in boot camp in 1959 at Great Lakes None of my instructors acted like that The pay has certainly changed When I left boot camp i was being paid $8000 per month When I left the Navy I was being paid a little over $1100 a month Of course I had almost no cost of livingbr One thing that I found out as a sailor on sea duty A enlisted person has no rights Especially if you are Caucasian There is of course the Uniform Code of Military Justice Reputed to be like the constitution of the military All that the UCMJ does is give the military the authority to do what ever they are going to do to youbr On the other hand I have three grand children in the military All Army One graduated from West Point and is a Captain now By the way , as a officer she does have rights The oldest one was a Sargent He has left the Army to take a job with Microsoft More money you know I wonder if he is finding that to be true now that he pays the family living costs out of his pocket The youngest one is training military dogsbr All three are quite young and with today's political climate they are accustomed to have few if any rights On sea duty in the Navy you can be treated like something on the bottom side of a pile of dog shit You have no choice but to accept itbr Unless you are Negro I don't know about the other services but the Navybrhandles Negros with white kidskin gloves And if they don't feel like working they don't have to There was one fellow on my work crew He would check in to our work station at 6 PM along with the rest of us and that would be the last that we would see of him until the next morningbrWe workd 12 on and 12 off when out at sea Comment from : Donald Miller |
