For French (at least, Canadian French), there's a cooking show that we used to have that my dad would put on tv all the time They spoke fast enough that I couldn't understand everything, but visually accompanied by the audio I was able to parse out what was going on and I enjoyed the challenge of trying to guess what they were making

Since you mentioned LotR, I can't help but commenting I've been rewatching the saga in Hungarian (I'm not a begginer though) Good thing Amazon Prime has both audio and subtitles matching in Hungarian for the trilogy I almost watch no TV, I watch YT instead, and whenever possible I turn auto-translation on for subs

I agree reality TV is a really good option because they’re not putting on weird voices or speaking in a forced way Especially certain countries will have their actors speak in a really unnatural way…

I started my Spanish journey a week ago and I’ve been trying to watch/ listen to stuff but I get reeeeaally overwhelmed, because I don’t understand anything lol I’ve only started learning Spanish and I get that it takes time, but I would really like to watch something that it very very beginner friendly I feel like that is the best way for me to learn Anyone got any recommendations?🫶🏼 I would use Lingo pie but it doesn’t have my native language and I already get overwhelmed super easily so I don’t think I should learn from English because I’m not fully fluent yet😅

combining casually watching and rewatching shows with some kind of flashcard SRS system has been invaluable to me I found some dubbed american sitcoms in my target language which I'd already watched in english and I noticed myself picking up words so quickly because I could easily guess what was being said based on the plot and the context
