That's why research costs so much at Stanford For those who don't know: all research institution need to add on indirect cost (a tax) for health care, vacations, lab space, libraries, IT, road repair, mail delivery, HR and safety personnel, etc legitimate costs are still high, say 50 of any grant, and are reviewed constantly by government agencies
