Interesting, as I am British and grew up in the Fens of East Anglia, now living in Scotland, I hear many American tourists around me here The old Fenland accent, which is dying out a bit now, but my father spoke, and I was brought up with, used to use the T in the same way as the Americans Also some of the grammer was the same I was also brought up to use some words that might sound American, for instance, sidewalk, critter, Creak, howdy there as a greeting I know that large numbers of locals left for America, due to poverty, from colonial times onward, and have read they took local words and expressions with them Comment from : @trishagoodwin4069 |
