I believe I need to work a lot on making sure I put everything that is distracting down, and activebrY choose to be present and listening, to add on to this when I am paying attention making the conscious choice of not butting in with my own exciting tale and making a mental note perhaps or letting pass

I have ADHD and have a difficult time listening, and I do talk a lot I do not want my diagnosis to define who I am I want to sit quiet and listen to the other person As a child and disciple of God, I feel it's crucial I listen to the people I shepard I struggle with it, but I remind myself each time I'm talking to someone It's not easy, so I typed "active listening" and came here first Thank you! Letting people talk and finish is my biggest struggle I find it hard to fight the urge to respond quickly to something that sticks out just so I don't forget before they finish Second struggle is staying mindful/mentally engaged I get distracted by my own thoughts very easily

Not reacting to what someone is saying is something I end up doing after I realize that I wasn't listening It's embarrassing and I imagine the other person thinks that I was uninterested Responding is like the way to prove that I was listening

I have horrible ADHD and this is such a problem for me, I can't pay attention to when someone is speaking to me I cannot stop my internal monologue ironically because I'm very interested in what they're saying, the issue is because I'm thinking, I stop listening I realize halfway through their sentence that I zoned out half way through and try to reply to show I'm listeningbrbrIssue is because I only get half of what someone is saying, I try to relate by saying I've had a similar experience But just steers the conversation towards me
