I always thought this song was a veiled critisim of the war in Iraq The boy finds a coin amongst bullets (casings) and trade magazines (ala Soldier of Fortune) He seems neither surprisd nor distraught at the car that has flipped The girl is a metaphor for the atrocities that occur in war (the bird flying up her gown being rape in my opinion) The boy tosses the coin, (something of value) into the persian gulf, and walks to a town (perhaps Al-faw), that burned as a result of our complacency
