I believe it's not really a bad thing to forget things brFirst time you read sth unfamiliar brFaster you read less you remember yet more you can cover brAnd next time you know important parts to study and focus onbrI think it's more efficient than trying to learn everything the first time you study it

This is very true, I've been really foolish to think studying has to be looking good with clear pictures and colours but in reality there's nothing better than writing it down with your pen in your paper brbrFor all med students, really consider doing this and find connections for every detail in this way it retains better and makes studying even more entertaining coz you go through a lot of "ah so this is why" moments brbrDo it no matter how many papers it takes for each topic, I'm searching for a solution to this problem right now actually as i also don't like big bages of canvas or Microsoft white boardsbrbrbrIn short, Explain it yourself, write it down, make connections and make every detail clear, record yourself explaining it from this material and have fun!

This is spot on, I believe that every single student who is mildly observant has come to the same conclusion Because they had to have been subject to this same situation, schools don't know how to effectively deliver the information they're teaching so they just shove it in your face and expect you to remember everything, and of course quite the opposite effect is achieved, and teachers get frustrated with you when you don't remember stuff that was taught months ago Having a personal sense of relevancy and value is important

These videos seem to all be about memorising because this is not how learning works brbrLet me give an example Say we wanted to learn how a machine works You seem to be suggesting we should hear an explanation and trick our brain into making connections If we actually gave the machine to people and said analyse it and figure out how it works, especially, if we gave it to a group with different prior knowledge, they would construct the knowledge and wouldn't need to "trick" their brains They would also learn more if you asked them to evaluate whether the machine worked efficiently brbrI am amazed that someone with an master's in education seems not to have read Vygotsky
