I sing harmony in a Dixieland band and have found the tough songs are the ones that jump around a lot or have a lot of arpeggios in them Songs like "All Of Me" in Bb I do a lot of upper pedal point with that song From the beginning "All" to word "out" I sing a D I use other pedals for the rest of the song It works pretty well but you can't always be that lucky

literally no one has explaineed this to me before and I'm thinking people just know by ear and its a guessing game D: its so simple, because I know all this in theory through playing clarinet but not from singing a harmony context (basically all the arpeggios I've been practising :P )

Well, I'm not sure if it's just due to my music experience, but I find it easier to make up a harmony for a new song straight away without learning the melody :)
