for beginners: this video explains what is a vertical spread It does not fully explain how to adjust the trade if the stock moves against your expectations Before placing any trade it is a MUST to have an exit plan, especially describing an unfavorable move Also be aware that you might think that the long options limit the risk I you are assigned on a Friday, on Monday the Long option will be gone

These videos are great Very informative I have a question with the last example as I'm not sure how you make 80$ on the trade if the stock were to stay at 101 We sold he 100 call hoping it stayed below 100 and bought the 105 hoping it went higher I understand we collected the 300 premium but we essentially lost on both trades, correct? The biggest thing missing from this is the fact that one of the options serves as collateral for the other and you don’t need either the buying power or shares for a simple sell call/put strategy

Hi Sky View Guy (sorry - I don't think you mentioned your name in the video) I'm brand new to Options Haven't even started paper trading yet but hope to do so soon Anyway, you mentioned letting the contract expire Although a set-it-and-forget-it approach sounds convenient (no need to babysit it and you save the cost of commission by not having to close early) is this not dangerous? I'm confused because I've watched a lot of videos about making short credit spread trades and the narrator was always adamant about buying-to-close the contract prior to the expiry Just to clarify, are you saying that you're protected from assignment at expiry as long as you buy a long Call to mitigate your losses to the upside?
