This is very different from Australia The UK seems a bit like the USA with an exam serving as a gatekeeper brbrIn Australia you don’t need to take any exam to become a lawyer (except for the obvious university exams) The Practical Legal Training course is the only thing you need This course has really become a bit of a joke with providers churning out “lawyers” at a breakneck speed to get more money There are so many Aussies that have pieces of paper saying that they are admitted into practice as “lawyers”, but they work in totally different fields

in my opinion the problem about UK justice is that it can be so corrupt that even the most comitted individual who enters the system may well need to perform in a corrupt manner in order to even exist The law is seldom carried out and instead agreements between parties followed so hence conviction unsafe Look at the case of Asta Juskauskiene, a mother of three who was convicted for 24 years for a murder charge yet was not even at the murder which is a fact not contested by the police Yet evidence was made up against her and she is currently serving 24 years of a life sentence yet totally innocentwelcome to the UK bar,

I believe there is an alternative to getting a qualifying law degree that is not the Postgraduate Diploma in Law, which takes one yearbrbrThe University of Bristol offers the Master of Arts (MA) in Law programme, which compresses the regular three-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme into two years There is also the LLB Senior Status programme at the University of York, which also takes two years There are a number of similar two-year programmes for a qualifying Law degree in England and WalesbrbrAlthough higher education is expensive, mental health is arguably priceless It's not how fast you get there, it's when you get there
