If I could just make a small correction to your commentary ? British monarchs do not "rule" They "reign" A ruler's authority can always be revoked; a monarch's authority cannot It only can cease to be recognisedbrbrThat plate was not silver, as silver doesn't rust It tarnishes (goes black) Secondly, even if it were silver, you wouldn't plate brass over silver That would be putting a cheaper material over a noble material It looked to me like tinware And thirdly---and most importantly---if it were silverplate you would probably destroy it by your aggressive scrubbing with a wire brushbrbrPlease do not try to sell the piece as British Silver That would be fraudulent The word "silver" in this case refers to the "silver" anniversary of the king's reign---25 years Hope this helps clarify matters Comment from : Jill Davies |

Your lucky to have gotten the opportunity to get a hold of something with such significance as this piece I believe during the time of this silver jubilee there must have been hundreds if not thousands given to the people that attended this historical event and now after all this time you’ve gotten your hands on one is priceless to say the least You’ve done a wonderful job restoring it to its glory and anyone with English roots or not would be proud to have it in their possession Comment from : noregrets7469 |

"I thought it was silver with copper plate, but it's not"brbrFirst of all, who would plate silver with copper? Second, anyone who had ever seen silver or copper in their lifetimes would know that it is neither Where did that rust come from if it is silver or copper??? Comment from : JamieA6666 |

I suspect these were machine stamped out by the thousands The images are very crude and the piece is fairly unattractive I wouldn’t worry about the destructive “restoration” done here, the piece probably has little value to start with Comment from : Nancy Kaminski |

You state the piece is made of English Silver Silver does not rust especially with the type of oxide the plate was covered in Silver can be tarnished to which there are special cleaners that will not abrade the surfaces as you have done Why would you brass plate the silver ? Usually you would silver plate brass Very sad to see an historical item being treated so badly, please if you don't know how to restore pieces leave it to the experts Comment from : The Pagan |

There is a difference between I don’t even know how to call what you did and preservation, in my opinion the plate lost all its value, you removed material, original plating and even re-plated the part for what, to make it shiny? All traces of history have been erases and in my opinion a careful use of proper chemical and a slight hand polishing leaving the marks of history would have left the piece in its original value but it’s only my humble opinion Thank you for your videos that I enjoy seeing Comment from : eugenio248 |

What have you done😢 the begining was great, using chalk was genius, but restoring silverplated steel using a electrobrassing is a crime Get off this brass and just use a silver solutions The process isn't cheap but results will be legendarny, trust me Comment from : Radek Nowicki |
|

|
Nice restoration job would not believe it's the same plate Comment from : Frank Beck |
|
I’m not understanding why a valuable piece was restored using harsh measures Thank you for the video, but most that restore such historical pieces like this as a professional, tend to use softer less harsh & gentle measures to insure the piece isn’t compromised from what’s left of its original state Comment from : TAG |
