I returned to the US from China in 07/2019 to finish another degree with the intention of returning to China So now that that may still be off the table, I'm working in public school and looking at a CELTA to get me into the UAE I had a recent conversation with a friend who never left China, that was very encouraging for the near future, but I think I need to just focus on higher paying situations as much as I love the lifestyle in China

What’s the max amount you can send out? I have ICBC and I am in Shenzhen on a legal z visa I did this last year and they told me it was 500usd max per day Now I am hearing that you can send back as much as you want I am so confused

I've been in China, on a Z Visa, since 2013 Never received a tax receipt from any employer Also, never had a problem getting my money out

i finallly was able to do that by paypal, but even thou the rate was not that bad, the charge for the transfer add up but so far it was the only way i was able to do it

you can get a friend to send it via Alipay same cost which is 50RMB and the same speed 2-3 days in my experience

At the end of my contract for every job in China I make sure that I get the tax receipts from the school and from the local tax office That way my ass is covered for any situation financially in the future

Once piece of advice If your school doesn't give you the tax slips, you can go to your local tax office and they can print out a document saying how much you paid each month Just bring your passport and maybe someone to translate for you and tell them what you need

Interesting video, though, I'd like to add a few points First, most Chinese banks only let you transfer out 500 USD a month If you were able to do more than that, I'd be curious to know as that has been the standard since at least 2011 Second, there are other maximums based on the reason for the transfer Meaning that larger sums, even if you get a trusted Chinese friend to transfer it to your home country's account, are also capped at different sums and may have limited frequencies of processing Third, if you travel home or outside China, you are allowed to carry on a sizeable portion of cash in your carry-on (double check with local customs and the airport on the amount which, last I read, was 2-3000 USD) I agree with you that it's not impossible to get your money out of China (knock on wood) though it could be easier (ex In Japan, I did it in one visit under an hour)

In 4 years in China and all the laowais I know, nobody ever was able to get the tax receipt from their work, because they are always lying and saying they pay the employee less However, you can send up to $500 USD a day if you don't have it
