Excellent video! I recently inherited dozens of postcards dating from 1905 - 1969 It’s fascinating to read my family’s handwriting through the generations They are so precious and I need to make sure they last for years to come Thanks for the storage recommendations! 🤗 Comment from : @meganorser4162 |

I’m so torn about covers On the one hand, they do contain so much more information But on the other hand, they take up so much more space and are so much harder to store and sort 😔 I’m also a bit weirded out by the idea of collecting covers, and especially postcards, that weren’t specifically sent to me I recently got a bunch of old postcards at a second hand store that I liked the stamps on, and now after watching this video and the postmark video I’ve realised some of them have interesting postmarks, so now I don’t know how I want to deal with them 😂 Comment from : @kettleofseveralfish |
Can you share a link for the loose cover sleeves? They are for some reason very hard to find! Comment from : @AnthonyBC1989 |
How do I get what old covers worth Comment from : @waltertaylorjr3010 |
This is why when my great grandad died and I found some letters he sent home from the war into sleeves, one day I'll pass them on with all the rest and hope they get added to, trouble with collecting things, none of us will ever really see them completed, but somehow, knowing my effort will one day become part of something far bigger than I can imagine of is comforting ✌ Comment from : @hamoostaffat |

This was incredibly informative! Do you happen to know anything about and/or have resources on Radio promotion/advertising covers between 1940-1970? Comment from : @ae17able |
I've just been piling covers I receive into an old wooden box for the last 40 odd years - not every envelope but the international or interesting ones- those needing extra postage paid, interesting post marks etc The question is: now that I lack space how do I pass them on so their value is preserved? Comment from : @kevinsmith3343 |
how can you put a value on a cover with stamp and with or without original content? Comment from : @randall--craig7779 |
My first purchase of a First Day Cover was through Canada Post, for a stamp of a caricature that I love; but after watching your video about the Apollo 15 scandal, I purchased a Cover that flew on Space Shuttle Challenger :-)) I haven't received it yet actually; from my still limited experience, there's a big difference between seeing a picture of a stamp on a screen and seeing it with your own eyes, so I'm eager to receive it hehe Comment from : @SmokyTheChain |

very nice Comment from : @عمادالساعدي-غ9د |

Thanks for your videos: While searching for proper “accommodation” for my stamps and FDC, I accidentally stumbled upon your programme Some of my FDCs have brown spots, age marks etc So unsightly, due to poor storage (I think) as I live in a very humid country 1 degree north of the equator I collect presentation packs now as the stamps seem to be better preserved Would be helpful if you could advise me what sort of FDC albums I should purchase to “protect” my remaining covers The first time I heard about the glassine envelopes from your video, I immediately got some, however , I was not able to find glassine envelopes for my first day covers etc I am nowsearching for All your videos, need to watch them slowly, starting from the first episode Thanks for your programmes, love them Comment from : @tnghs6873 |

I have to ask - For the Zeppelin mail cover, especially for the Hindenburg (which I have always had a fascination for), how much would something like that go for in retail dollars? To obtain something as cool as that, would I have to go to a stamp show? Thanks! Comment from : @dancalmpeaceful3903 |

Absolutely love the way you have some of your collection displayed in stockbook binders! Having the covers and related stamps all together just makes sense! Comment from : @postallyheidi5821 |
Would an envelope sent via air mail in the 1950"s with postmaster stamps encouraging things like "give mental health fund" be considered a cover? Or "Fight TB by supporting your local TB association?" brAre things such as this considered covers?brbrbrEdit They are slogan cancels And it seems collectable They are going in a book!! Comment from : @Chewy_GarageBandDad |
Covers are one of the things I collect Generally I will take the appropriate envelope, add stamp, and either walk into a post office or mail to the postmaster requesting a cancel I've earned the postmark of every post office in the county I am from, plus USS Enterprise CVN-65 just before she was decommissioned I will also attempt to get the special pictoral postmarks if they catch my eyebrbrI am planning on making a cachet with the picture that I took of a JN-4 Jenny in flight and the inverted Jenny re-issue, as I know the mechanic who worked on that plane Comment from : @brandonreinventshimself |
I am able to read german and I really wanted to help you out on the POW letter, but unfortunately, I can't make out the handwriting as wellbrI have recently started to "collect" postcards and I am baffled how exactly they were able to reach their destinationbrAfter all, they are SO hard to readbrbrAnyway, as so as I can make out what the letter says, I'm more than happy to translate it for you Comment from : @MrSabachtani |

I recently found out about this collectable hobby and as someone who just loves the chase of collecting things, First Day Covers are an excellent opportunity to acquire intersting, unique and historically relevant content for very little cost Of course I have to try and rein myself in, the amount of FDC's and collectable mini-sheets can seem overwhelming at first, or seem overly enticing Having a set goal of specifics in mind (and clearly sticking to these principles) should stop you going overboard on any and every cover that takes your eye I'm looking for former UK colonies FDC's of Rhodesia and Bechuanaland Comment from : @earlofdrumer1851 |
Explained in a vey lucid voice I collect commercially used FDCs Thank you so much Comment from : @kkjalandra8741 |

Is it worth collecting the cover if it was opened carelessly and has uneven cut on one side? Does the condition of the envelope matter? Or in this case, I should just cut the stamp and soak in water? Thanks! Comment from : @elbertsy |
