My work environment is so toxic that I go out of my way to cost them money Year after year we hear record profits are being made Could we get a bonus or something A pizza party is not a bonus This is just not me it’s all the techs We have to fight and threaten to park our cars to get a fair bump in mileage reimbursement when gas goes up What employers fail to understand is a disgruntled workforce will cost you more than paying them fair Comment from : @kevinjhonson5925 |

From my experience and hearing the experiences of others I realized if you don't know what you want to do or are trying to chose from more than one option is to get a general education in college and you'll get an idea of your areas of knowledge, abilities, skills and base them on your passions, desires, interests, and values You want to research schools and find which one best meets your needs You can make a resume with not just your job experience but any volunteering, skills, abilities, accomplishments, personality traits, hobbies, and interests It's also good to prepare for interviews by thinking of possible questions they might ask Comment from : @annettehansen6047 |

Know yourself before making decisions We unconsciously forget that personal characteristics etc also play a part on this, not just interest To succeed you need to know your every aspect about yourself and pick out a career based on it Not just going for it without a consciously made decision 😢 Comment from : @science1004 |

Thank you very much for this inspirational talk, graduated last year and landed on a job , but last month I chose to quit for the well known “lack of passion/not for me” reason, the job wasn’t directly related to my major and for what I know, most of my friends went to phds , which is the popular option…… I should be booking appointments for career / mental health consultations … Sometimes It’s just really hard to figure things out myself , no matter how rational you think you are… often you’re not Comment from : @JMKudos |

Most people's passion is also influenced Status and money does influence us but we should be able to control them and not let them control us What people require is fulfilment Comment from : @WA_YT |

My problem is that my decision of future career isn't social I don't have any friends, my parents don't care who am as long as I'm happy and I don't have any biases Heck, I would love to wash the floor for the rest of my life if it was paid well But it's notbrAnd there's nothing I'm good at that I'm passionate about I love math, but I struggle with basic examples like subtraction or division (dunno why, I guess I'm just a dummy) I love drawing, but I can't draw, I made zero progress over the years despite me being mesmerized by the process I love studying, but there's no such professionbrAnd I'm really good at learning languages But I will never make it into job, because there's nothing more easy and boring for me than translating I'd rather go and tinker with my equationsbrbrAnd so, I think I've been cursed Comment from : @mauersegler |

brThe Psychology of Career Decisions | Sharon Belden Castonguay

I have a big issue with this notion of career identity What happens if our career identity is one that is a dead end? What if society and the market do not value the talent and uniqueness we bring? In a perfect world, what she says is correct But the disturbing truth is that many of us will not have the opportunity to live out our identity You can be anything you want to be, as long as it is banker, tech entrepreneur, or programmer The rest of us may just have to make do… Comment from : @qisiangng1611 |
