There are 1999 state quarters that are experimental quarters that look like gold from The US Mint They are manganese They are real and are not gold plated from any third party, but they look gold Just on the 1999 state quarters

Good video I got one of these this morning (Maryland 2000-P) at face value At that price I'll admit It IS attractive One suggestion--showing a worn silver coin isn't the best comparison, as showing a non-plated state quarter (which, of course, would be an ordinary clad coin) would have been much better

They also have silver, platinum, holographic, and gold holographic plated quarters I bought a set of 5 quarters including the gold plated Got interested in these after I got a gold quarter from Pizza Hut before a show I was going to Ik they’re aftermarket but I still have the quarter from that day, and it will always remind me of it

Everybody who might confuse these with the experimentals; CHECK FOR A PINWHEEL! If the light doesn't spin around the perimeter of the coin like on a Sacagewea Dollar (as well as have a very similar coloration and grain pattern, as the alloy does vary) If the light doesn't "spin" it's gold platedbrbrExperimentals have only been found so far in the 1999 series, and the 2000 Mass HOWEVER; this doesn't mean they might not exist! As the pre-1982 Planchet Cent/Pennies have been found as late as 1989 D This suggests the coin planchets got stuck in the hopper
