In the Continuity example, I would expect all the circles to be the same color By having the 3 extra circles a different color, wouldn't you be showing the "Similarity" law as well?

I think that your example about continuity is not good In your case you have two colors of circles, which also applies to the similarity law, so you are already conditioning the viewer to favor it
