ALL precious metals if you own more than just a little bit that you can afford to loose must be kept in a fire resistant safe, and a good one Fire can mess up you precious metals, goldbacks and valuable papers A great safe with 2 hour fire rating and hidden behind 3 levels of concealment and bolted down Maybe even several safes where you stash your stacks Never place in an obvious spot Hide it where criminals will not look, and where several things must be moved to find it Example, in the laundry room linen closet, behind towels, behind the shelves, and behind the false wall Unless you told someone where it is or they installed it, it will never be found till your home falls down I know criminals that look inside dressers for hidey holes, bust lamps open, look for fake cans in the pantry and even wrapped stash in a freezer Victims are pissed wen their secret safes did not work so well If you only have a few coins, an old paint can in the garage works great as well as any of those other good secret places like inside a fake trash can filled with rotten fish or the bottom of a cat litter box under real cat pooh with a real cat in the home It is a matter of how much you have, the trouble to get to it regularly and how much you can afford to loose to family, fire or thieves I have goldbacks and coins on display because they are beautiful but, when I go on vacation they go into the safe and decoys placed out I also own guns, my neighbors own guns and hogs so burglaries and home invasions are unheard of in our conservative values rural county When the hogs get fed, there was no crime and no record of it
