The proof sets before 1955 had terrible packaging, so for aesthetic reasons, I've only bought those slabbed It's been fun to search for the coins one-at-a-time Also, a dealer at Whitman told me for those older sets that come in raw, they best ones are always in some kind of Capitol Plastics holder and not the OGP Comment from : Joe Bohanon |

Great video I have bought MANY proof sets of the 1955-1964 vintage I have cut up many of them and put them into individual coin "snaps" in storage I intend to comb through them soon to look for good candidates for submission and grading The key for me is to buy right I look for bulk lots and I make many low-ball offers hoping to find buyers eager to sell and unload them I have also done this with 40 Silver Ikes which I really love because I have been able to find eager sellers who sell for lower prices I have found some truly beautiful coins that way I am not a dealer I am long in silver as well as gold to a lesser degree Also, I believe there will be renewed interest in Bicentennial coins as we approach the semiquincentennial (2026) So, I look for the 1776-1976 40 silver Ike dollars, JFK halves, and Washington quarters (proofs and BUs) Thanks again Comment from : Max Q |
